The Junior A Mountaineers Lacrosse Club was established in 2006 as an expansion team to the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League (RMLL) Junior A program bringing the total number of Junior A lacrosse teams in Alberta to four. Playing out of Calgary, the Mounties home rink is Stu Peppard. [1] The Mounties have played in 2 Minto Cup Championships, once being hosted in 2008 at Max Bell Arena [2]

The Jr.A Mountaineers were the 2012 Alberta Champions and were one of the only Alberta based teams to reach the Semi-Finals in the Minto Cup. [3] They did so in 2008 and lost to the Victoria Jr.A Shamrocks with the Orangeville Northmen eventually winning the Championship.

The Mountaineers have also built their NCAA and college player recruits since their inception in 2006. Below is a list of all former Alumni and current players who have played collegiate level lacrosse. [4]

The Ontario Junior Lacrosse League (OJLL) is considered the most competitive Junior A men's box lacrosse league in the world and the number one source for talent for the National Lacrosse League (NLL). The OJLL is sanctioned by the Ontario Lacrosse Association. It is an 11 team league wherein the top 8 go to the playoffs and battle it out for top spot in Ontario. The Ontario Champion is annually awarded the Iroquois Trophy and moves on to compete against teams from Alberta and British Columbia for the Minto Cup - the Junior A National Box Lacrosse Championship of Canada. Ontario has captured the Minto Cup fifty-six times since 1937.

The Mimico Mountaineers or Mimico Lacrosse Club is a Jr. A box lacrosse association in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Mountaineers operate junior-age and younger teams. Their home arena is Mimico Arena in the Mimico neighbourhood of Toronto. Beginning in 2015, their primary junior team will be a member of the Ontario Junior A Lacrosse League. From 1993 until 2014, the Mountaineers were members of the Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League.

Shawn Evans is a Canadian professional lacrosse player who plays for the Vancouver Warriors in the National Lacrosse League, and the Connecticut Hammerheads of Major League Lacrosse. Evans' brothers, Scott and Stephen have also played in the NLL. Evans is one of two lacrosse player in history to win the Minto Cup, the Mann Cup, and the NLL Champion's Cup all within 12 months of each other. He is also only one of three lacrosse players in history to win 2 Minto Cups back to back with 2 different Junior teams.

Randy Mearns is a former lacrosse player and the current head coach of the St. Bonaventure Bonnies men’s lacrosse team. After a 9-year career in the National Lacrosse League, Mearns became the head coach of the Canisius Golden Griffins men’s lacrosse team, where he would coach for 19 seasons before leaving in 2017 to coach for the newly-created lacrosse program at St. Bonaventure.

Mitchell "Mitch" Wilde is a professional lacrosse player for the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League and the Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks of Major Series Lacrosse. Hailing from Brooklin, Ontario, Wilde attended Donald A. Wilson Secondary School, where he was named MVP of his lacrosse team in 2008 and 2009. He played collegiality at Robert Morris University.

Zachary "Zach" Higgins is a Canadian professional lacrosse player for the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League and the Brooklin Redmen of Major Series Lacrosse. Hailing from Courtice, Ontario, Higgins began his Canadian amateur career with the Jr. B Clarington Green Gaels, where he won his league's Goaltender of the Year Award in 2007 and 2008. He moved up to the Jr. A Whitby Warriors, where he won a Minto Cup as the team's starter in 2011. He made his MSL debut with the Redmen in 2012. Higgins attended Courtice Secondary School, and went on to play lacrosse at Davenport University, where he was a two-time first team all-CCLA award winner.

Wesley Berg is a Canadian professional lacrosse player for the San Diego Seals of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) and Redwoods Lacrosse Club in the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL).

Robert Church is a professional lacrosse player for the Saskatchewan Rush in the National Lacrosse League.
