The Cambridgeshire Lawn Tennis Tournament was a tennis tournament first established in 1884 at Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, and played on outdoor grass courts. [1] The tournament was played at until 1892.

History

Cambridge University Lawn Tennis Club (f.1881) is one of the oldest tennis clubs in the world. [2] The Club acts as the tennis association for whole of the University of Cambridge, representing thirty-one Colleges. [3] In 1884, the Cambridge University LTA established the Cambridgeshire Lawn Tennis Tournament. [4] The tournament was held annually through to 1889, when it was discontinued. [5] In 1890, the Selford Lawn Tennis Club in Great Shelford, was host for the tournament until 1891, when that too was discontinued. [6] The tournament served as the precursor event to the later Cambridgeshire County Lawn Tennis Championships established by the Cambridgeshire LTA in 1906.

The Bedford Open also known as the Bedford Lawn Tennis Open Tournament was men's and women's grass court tennis tournament established in 1880 as the Bedfordshire LTC Tournament. It was held at the Bedford Lawn Tennis Club, Bedford, Berkshire, England and ran through until 1974 when it was abolished.

The Hull Open was annual men's and women's grass court tennis tournament founded as the Hull Westbourne Avenue Open Tournament in 1884. From 1905 to 1914 the tournament was co-branded as the East Yorkshire Championships. The tournament was organised by the Hull Lawn Tennis Club, Kingston-Upon-Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The tournament ran until 1956.

The Burnham-on-Sea Championships was a men's and women's grass court tennis tournament founded as the Burnham-on-Sea Open in 1927 at the Avenue Tennis Club, Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset, England. The tournament ran annually until 1980.

The Yorkshire Lawn Tennis Championships or simply known as the Yorkshire Championships was a combined men's and women's open grass court tennis tournament established in 1884 as the Yorkshire Lawn Tennis Tournament then later Yorkshire Association and County Open Tournament and ran till 1970. It was first held in Ilkley, then, Harrogate, then Whitby before moving to permanently Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England.

The Lanarkshire Open Tennis Championships also known simply as the Lanarkshire Championships was a men's and women's grass court tennis tournament founded in 1886 as the Championship of Lanarkshire It was first played at Hamilton Lawn Tennis Club, Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland. The championships were part of the ILTF Circuit through till 1967. After which it became part of the Scottish LTA Circuit until 1999 when it was discontinued.

The Norton Open was a men's and women's grass court tennis tournament founded in 1883 as Norton Lawn Tennis Tournament. The tournament was organised annually by the Norton Lawn Tennis Club and Norton Lawn Tennis Association, and was played on the Norton Cricket Club grounds at Norton, Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham, England. The tournament ran until 1933 when it was discontinued.

The Maidenhead Lawn Tennis Tournament was a combined men's and women' grass court tennis tournament founded in 1883. The tournament was played annually at Maidenhead, Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, Berkshire, England until 1890 before it was stopped. In 1893 it was reveived and continued to be staged through till 1900.

The Shropshire Championships or Shropshire Open Championship or Shropshire County Championships was a men's and women's grass court tennis tournament first established in 1903 as the Championship of Shropshire. It was first held at the Severnside Lawn Tennis Club Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. The tournament was staged annually until 1959.

The Ashby-de-la-Zouch Open Championships and informally called the Ashby-de-la-Zouch Open was a men's and women's grass court tennis tournament first established in 1900. The championship was first held on courts at the Bath Grounds in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire, England. The tournament ran until 1926 when it was suddenly discontinued. Tt was revived in 1930 and continued till 1939 when it was finally abolished.

The Edinburgh University LTC Open was a late Victorian era men's and women's grass court tennis tournament established in 1882. The tournament was played annually at the Edinburgh University Lawn Tennis Club, Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland until 1886.

The Duffield Open was men's and women's grass court tournament founded in 1882 as the Duffield LTC Open Tournament. The tournament was held at Duffield Lawn Tennis Club, Duffield, Derbyshire, England until 1960.

The Charmouth Open was an annual grass court tennis tournament organised by the Charmouth Lawn Tennis Club, at Charmouth, West Dorset, England from 1885 to 1890. The tournament was played at until 1892.
