The FEI World Equestrian Games are the major international championships for equestrianism, and are administered by the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI). The games have been held every four years, halfway between sets of consecutive Summer Olympic Games, since 1990. Prior to that year, all ten of the FEI's individual disciplines held separate championships, usually in separate countries. The modern WEG runs over two weeks and, like the Olympics, the location rotates to different parts of the world. Riders and horses competing at WEG go through a rigorous selection process, and each participating country sends teams that have distinguished themselves through competition as the nation's best in each respective discipline. At the 2010 Games, 57 countries were represented by 800 people and their horses.
Malin Birgitta Barijard Johnsson, born 10 April 1975 in Söderköping, Östergötland, Sweden) is a Swedish equestrian, competing in show jumping. Baryard started to ride at the age of six and went on to be a very accomplished show jumper. She won a gold medal in the Swedish Championships at the age of just 14. She married Swedish TV presenter Henrik Johnsson in the summer of 2004, and made her TV-presenting debut in the autumn of 2004 on the SVT show Barbacka.
Helen Sandy Pflueger is an American equestrienne. She has competed successfully in both eventing and dressage, finishing second at the Badminton Horse Trials in 1981 and competing on the United States Dressage Team at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. She competed under the British flag at the World Equestrian Games in Rome 1998 and Aachen 2006 and the European Championships in Arnheim 1998.
Gillian Rolton was an Australian Olympic equestrian champion. She competed in two Olympic Games, the 1992 Barcelona Games and 1996 Atlanta Games, winning a gold medal in team eventing both times on her horse, Peppermint Grove. At the 1996 Atlanta Games, she broke her collarbone and ribs, but remounted and completed the course. She was only one of four Australians to win multiple equestrian Olympic gold medals.
Isabell Werth is a German equestrian and world champion in dressage who competed in the Olympics six times winning twelve medals, seven of them gold. She holds the record for the most Olympic medals won by any equestrian athlete.
Yvonne Losos de Muñiz is an Olympic athlete and international Grand Prix dressage rider that represents the Dominican Republic. She belongs to the elite Dominican Olympic athlete program CRESO.
Elizabeth Madden is an American Olympic champion equestrian competing in show jumping. She has two Olympic golds and one silver in team jumping, and an individual bronze. She won the FEI Show Jumping World Cup twice; won two silvers and two bronzes at World Championships; and won two golds, one silver and two bronzes at the Pan American Games. She was the first American to break into the international top three show jumping ranking, and the first woman to win over one million dollars in show jumping prize money.
Steve Guerdat is a Swiss equestrian who competes in the sport of show jumping.
Laura Tomlinson MBE is a German-British dressage rider competing at Olympic level. As of 30 June 2012 the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI) ranked her 3rd in the world riding Mistral Højris and 36th on Andretti H. In that year, Tomlinson, riding Mistral Højris under her maiden name of Laura Bechtolsheimer, won two medals in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London; gold for Great Britain in the team dressage with Carl Hester and Charlotte Dujardin, the first ever Olympic team gold in the discipline for her country, and bronze in the individual dressage behind gold medalist and compatriot Dujardin.
Camilla Speirs is an Irish equestrian. At the 2012 Summer Olympics she competed in individual eventing and team eventing. She took up riding at 5, and starting to pursue eventing at the age of 8. She made her international debut in 2010.
Linda Camilla Algotsson is a Swedish Olympic eventing rider. She competed at five Summer Olympics. She finished 4th in team eventing on two occasions. Meanwhile, her current best individual Olympic result is 13th place from 2008.
Jonelle Price is a New Zealand equestrian, competing in eventing. She is married to Tim Price, also a New Zeland eventing rider. They are both competing at top international level.

The equestrian events at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro were held between 6 and 19 August at National Equestrian Center in Deodoro. Medals were awarded in three disciplines for both individual and team competitions.
Tanya Karen Seymour is a South African dressage rider. She competed at the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Normandy, where she placed 20th with the South African team in the team competition and 98th in the individual dressage competition.

Arianna Schivo is an Italian Olympic eventing rider. She competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro where she finished 34th in the individual and 9th in the team competition.
Rebel Morrow is an Australian Olympic eventing rider. She competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens where she finished 11th in the individual and 6th in the team competition. The other team members were Phillip Dutton, Stuart Tinney, Andrew Hoy and Olivia Bunn. She is currently living in QLD, Australia and has not competed in any recent events. She now is a riding instructor and owns a riding school in South QLD.
