The canton of Alençon-2 is an administrative division of the Orne department, northwestern France. Its borders were modified at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in Alençon. [1]

Orne Department of France

Orne is a department in the northwest of France, named after the river Orne.

In the administrative divisions of France, the department is one of the three levels of government below the national level, between the administrative regions and the commune. Departments are further subdivided into 334 arrondissements, themselves divided into cantons; the last two have no autonomy, and are used for the organisation of police, fire departments, and sometimes, elections.
