The event features musical artists from many genres of music, including rock, pop, indie, hip hop and electronic dance music, as well as art installations and sculptures. The Reading and Leeds Festivals are a pair of annual music festivals that take place in Reading and Leeds in England. The events take place simultaneously on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the August bank holiday weekend. The Reading Festival is held at Little John's Farm on Richfield Avenue in central Reading, near Caversham Bridge. The Leeds event is held in Bramham Park, near Wetherby, the grounds of a historic house. Headliners and most supporting acts typically play at both sites, with Reading's Friday line up becoming Leeds' Saturday line-up, Reading's Saturday line-up playing at Leeds on Sunday, and Leeds' Friday line-up attending Reading on Sunday. Campsites are available at both sites and weekend tickets include camping. Day tickets are also sold.

...As the Poets Affirm was a Canadian independent rock band formed in 2001 in Ottawa, Ontario. The band began as a three-piece acoustic project, and later evolved into a seven-member line-up experimenting with jazz, classical and electronica. Its name is taken from a line in Dante's Inferno. The original members were – Gary Udle, Nathan Gara (drums), Ryan Patterson, Adam Saikaley, bassist and singer Alex Cairncross and cellist Cindy Olberg. They were occasionally joined by violinist Renée Leduc, bassist Ryan Griffin, keyboardist, cellist and singer Kina De Grasse Forney, and on guitar, keyboards and trumpet, Ben Belanger.

He was the official anthem singer for the Ottawa Senators ice hockey club between 1994 and 2016 and is familiar with at least 13 national anthems. In 2023, Slewidge performed the anthems for the first time since 2016 during the Ottawa Senators 2023-24 home opener. Slewidge typically ends an anthem with a salute, a wink and a thumbs up sign.
