The Carl-Maria-von-Weber-Gesamtausgabe (short WeGA) is a scientific-critical edition of all works of the composer Carl Maria von Weber, published by the Schott Music publishing house in Mainz.

Content

The edition, which is sponsored by the Academy of Sciences and Literature in Mainz, aims to make all of Weber's compositions, letters, diaries and writings publicly accessible until the 200th anniversary of his death in 2026. [1] The edition will comprise about 50 volumes of music including critical reports, 10 volumes of letters, about 8 volumes of diaries, 2 volumes of writings, a catalogue raisonné and several volumes of documents. All text parts – excluding the musical notation – will initially be published as a digital edition. [2]

The edition is being produced under the direction of Gerhard Allroggen at two places of work: the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin [3] and the Musicology Department of the University of Paderborn at the Musikhochschule Detmold. [4] Chief editor is Joachim Veit. [5]

Ferdinand Tönnies German sociologist, economist and philosopher (1855–1936)

Ferdinand Tönnies was a German sociologist, economist, and philosopher. He was a significant contributor to sociological theory and field studies, best known for distinguishing between two types of social groups, Gemeinschaft and Gesellschaft. He co-founded the German Society for Sociology together with Max Weber and Georg Simmel and many other founders. He was president of the society from 1909 to 1933, after which he was ousted for having criticized the Nazis. Tönnies was regarded as the first proper German sociologist and published over 900 works, contributing to many areas of sociology and philosophy. Tönnies, Max Weber, and Georg Simmel are considered the founding fathers of classical German sociology. Though there has been a resurgence of interest in Weber and Simmel, Tönnies has not drawn as much attention.

Leonard Nelson German philosopher and mathematician

Leonard Nelson, sometimes spelt Leonhard, was a German mathematician, critical philosopher, and socialist. He was part of the neo-Friesian school of neo-Kantianism and a friend of the mathematician David Hilbert. He devised the Grelling–Nelson paradox in 1908 and the related idea of autological words with Kurt Grelling.

Weimar edition of Martin Luthers works

The Weimar edition of Luther's works, also known as the Weimarer Ausgabe (WA), is a critical complete edition of all writings of Martin Luther and his verbal statements, in Latin and German. The official title of this edition is D. Martin Luthers Werke: kritische Gesammtausgabe. Also included are Luther's Table Talk (Tischreden), Letters (Briefe), and Bible Translation. The three subseries are numbered separately.

Rudolf Kochendörffer German mathematician

Rudolf Paul Joachim Kochendörffer was a German mathematician who was a Professor of mathematics in the University of Rostock specialising in algebra, Group theory and theory of finite groups and their representation. During World War II, Kochendörffer worked as a mathematical cryptanalyst in the mathematical referat of Inspectorate 7/IV, that would later become part of Referat I of Group IV of the General der Nachrichtenaufklärung, the signals intelligence agency of the Wehrmacht and was known as a cryptographic tester of the Enigma cipher machine. Kochendörffer was a Member of the Scientific Advisory Council for Mathematics at the State Secretariat for the Higher and Specialist Schools of the GDR, a staff member of Mathematical Reviews and collaborated with the Zentralblatt MATH

Wilfried Gruhn German musicologist and music educator

Wilfried Gruhn is a German violinist, musicologist, music educator, and professor emeritus at universities in Germany and abroad. His focus is the music education of small children. He founded and directed the Gordon Institute of early childhood music learning in Freiburg in 2003. He is engaged in several international organisations such as International Society for Music Education (ISME) and the Internationale Leo Kestenberg Gesellschaft which published Leo Kestenberg's complete writings in six volumes.

Friedrich Smend was a German Protestant theologian and librarian at the Preußische Staatsbibliothek in Berlin, publishing a catalogue of the writings of Adolf von Harnack. He was a liturgist, teaching as professor at the Kirchliche Hochschule Berlin. His publications focus on the work of Johann Sebastian Bach and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
