Carl Nagel (born January 8, 1940) is a retired American Dirt Modified racing driver from Windsor, New York. His career spanned five decades competing in the Twin Tiers of Pennsylvania and New York. [2]

Racing career

Carl Nagel found success at the Central New York racetracks such as Weedsport Speedway, but was most at home at the Five Mile Point Speedway in Kirkwood NY, Penn Can Speedway in Susquehanna PA, and Thunder Mountain Speedway in Lisle NY. [1] [3] [4] Nagel scored 112 feature event wins and 4 track championships between the three venues. [5] [6] [7]

In 2013 Nagel, along with son Mike Nagel and grandson Mike Nagel Jr. became the first three generation family to enter the same event at Five Mile Point, and grandson Mike Jr. became the first third generation feature winner at Penn Can. [8] [9] Carl Nagel was inducted into the Northeast Dirt Modified Hall of Fame in 2005. [10]

He won 92 feature races at Oswego Speedway NY, and with his innovative car designs captured 38% of the Supermodified events held from 1970 to 1979.

Sammy Beavers is a retired American Dirt Modified racing driver. Beavers is known for his philanthropic work and annual holiday party for the children at the Matheny School in Peapack, New Jersey.

Charles "Chuck" Akulis is a retired American Dirt Modified racing driver. Akulis had a 9-year winning streak at the Five Mile Point Speedway in Kirkwood, NY (1977–1985), and captured 14 track championships at the venue during his career.

Thomas "Tommy" Corellis is a retired American Dirt Modified racing driver. Corellis captured 8 track championships at the Lebanon Valley Speedway NY during his career, including five consecutive titles from 1971 to 1975.

William "Wee Willie" Allan was an American Dirt Modified racing driver. Always detectable on the track by flying a villainous skull and bones flag, and readily identifiable off the track because of his diminutive size, he was a favorite of the younger race fans.

Robert "Bobby" Gerhart Sr. was an American race car driver, equally skilled at Modified, Supermodified, and Sprint car competition. He won three track championships and over 300 feature races in a career that spanned three decades.

E. David "Dave" Kneisel was an American dirt modified race car driver. He was also a noted builder of race cars, founding Kneisel's Speed and Sport shop in Clarks Summit PA, which continued to field cars for multiple drivers after Kneisel's death.

Davey Moore is a retired Canadian Dirt Modified racing driver from St. Anns, Ontario. Nicknamed "The Canadian Blast", his victories included 12 features in a row in 1979.

Donald "Ivan" Little was a Canadian dirt modified racing driver from St. Catherines, Ontario. He competed in the Niagara Falls regions of both the United States and Canada.

Mitch Gibbs is a retired American Dirt Modified racing driver, credited with 179 career wins at 15 tracks in the Mid-Atlantic.

Dale Planck was an American Dirt Modified racing driver, credited with over 200 career wins at tracks in the Mid-Atlantic.

Duane Howard is an American Dirt Modified racing driver, credited with over 250 career wins at tracks in the Mid-Atlantic.
