Carl Grant Orr is an Australian jazz guitarist and composer. [1] He has been based in London since the 1990s. [2] Orr earned a nomination for the 1992 ARIA Award for Best Jazz Album for Seeking Spirit (1991).
In 1991 he was a member of Australian contemporary jazz band, Wanderlust, alongside Miroslav Bukovsky on trumpet, James Greening on trombone, Alister Spence on piano and keyboards, Adam Armstrong on bass guitar and Fabian Hevia on drums and percussion. Orr has recorded or performed with fellow jazz artists Billy Cobham, George Duke, Bennie Maupin, Eric Bibb, Ernie Watts, Nigel Kennedy, Eric Krasno, T. M. Stevens, Randy Brecker, Gary Husband, Ettienne M'Bappe, Marcus Miller, Mike Stern, Larry Coryell, Ric Fierabracci and Don Grusin. He has also performed with pop musicians Lulu, Anastacia, Doug Parkinson and Marcia Hines. In 2017 Orr was inducted into the South Australian Music Hall of Fame in Adelaide, Australia. In 2018 he played guitar for the UK tour of Sting's "The Last Ship".
The Necks are an Australian avante-garde jazz trio formed in 1987 by founding mainstays Chris Abrahams on piano and Hammond organ, Tony Buck on drums, percussion and electric guitar, and Lloyd Swanton on bass guitar and double bass. They play improvisational pieces of up to an hour in length that explore the development and demise of repeating musical figures. Their double LP studio album Unfold was named by Rolling Stone as "one of the top 20 avant albums of 2017."

Spectrum is the debut solo album by jazz fusion drummer Billy Cobham. The album was influenced by the earlier jazz fusion of Miles Davis, with whom Cobham had previously collaborated extensively, and Cobham's previous band Mahavishnu Orchestra.
Directions in Groove or DIG were an Australian acid jazz band which formed in 1991 by Alexander Hewetson on bass guitar, Terepai Richmond on drums and percussion, Rick Robertson on saxophone, Tim Rollinson on guitar and Scott Saunders on keyboards. Originally styled as dig they performed instrumental acid jazz before Saunders added vocals. They released three studio albums, Dig Deeper, Speakeasy and Curvystrasse. At the APRA Music Awards of 1996 they won Most Performed Jazz Work for their track, "Futures". They disbanded in 1998 before reforming in 2008 for selected performances and again 2011 to release a fourth studio album, Clearlight.

Miklós József "Jackie" Orszáczky was a Hungarian-Australian musician, arranger, vocalist and record producer. His musical styles included jazz, blues, R&B, funk and progressive rock; he mainly played bass guitar – from the early 1990s he used a modified piccolo bass – but also various other instruments. In 2006 Orszaczky was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit by the Hungarian government. Also that year Orszaczky was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma and died on 3 February 2008, aged 59.
