Carla Ortiz Oporto (born 2 December 1975) is a Bolivian actress and philanthropist.
She was born in Cochabamba, Bolivia. After a brief career as a professional tennis player, she moved to Mexico City in the 1990s and later, in 2005, to Los Angeles upon winning a bursary from the Georgetown University. [1]
Ortiz has been accused by journalist Christoph Reuter from Der Spiegel of engaging in Russian propaganda in relation to the Syrian Civil War. [2] However, the accusations were received with criticism by Syrian German musician Hanin Elias. [3]

Juana Azurduy de Padilla was a guerrilla military leader from Chuquisaca, Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata. She fought for Bolivian and Argentine independence alongside her husband, Manuel Ascencio Padilla, earning the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. She was noted for her strong support for and military leadership of the indigenous people of Upper Peru. Today, she is regarded as an independence hero in both countries.

Monika Ertl was a German-Bolivian communist militant, guerrilla fighter and the daughter of Nazi propagandist Hans Ertl. She is most known for assassinating Colonel Roberto Quintanilla Pereira, the man responsible for chopping off Che Guevara's hands. This successful assassination earned her the title 'Che Guevara's avenger' in Germany. She continued to serve as a soldier in the National Liberation Army (ELN) resisting the Bolivian government, until she was slain by Bolivian security services in 1973. Her body was never returned to her family, and the site of her grave remains unknown.
