Caroline Poggi and Jonathan Vinel

Caroline Poggi (born 1990) and Jonathan Vinel (born 1988) are a French filmmaking duo, [1] whose debut feature film Jessica Forever premiered in 2018. [2]

Poggi directed the short film Chiens in 2013 on her own, [3] before collaborating with Vinel on As Long As Shotguns Remain (Tant qu'il nous reste des fusils à pompe), which won the Short Film Golden Bear at the 64th Berlin International Film Festival. [4] They subsequently collaborated on the short films Our Legacy (Notre héritage) and After School Knife Fight, and Vinel was solo director of the short film Martin Cries (Martin pleure), before they released Jessica Forever, which premiered in the Platform Prize program at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival. [5]

They followed up with the short films Baby Anger (Bébé Colère) in 2020, [6] Watch the Fire or Burn Inside It (Il faut regarder le feu ou brûler dedans) in 2022, and Best Secret Place in 2023.

Their second feature film, Eat the Night , premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, [7] where it was a nominee for the Queer Palm. [8]

Jonathan Schwartz is an American film producer and former entertainment lawyer, known for producing independent features. Schwartz's credits include Wristcutters: A Love Story (2006), Douchebag (2010), Like Crazy (2011), Smashed (2012), Nobody Walks (2012), Breathe In (2013), Imperial Dreams (2014), and The Vanishing of Sidney Hall (2017). Through his production label, Super Crispy Entertainment, most of Schwartz's works have screened, won awards and secured distribution at the Sundance Film Festival. Throughout his career, he has collaborated extensively with producer Andrea Sperling, director Drake Doremus and actor-producer Logan Lerman.

Eat the Night is a French thriller film, directed by Caroline Poggi and Jonathan Vinel and released in 2024. The film centres on the relationship between Apolline and Pablo, a brother and sister in Le Havre who are passionate fans of an online video game called Darknoon; when the game developers announce that it will be shutting down at Christmastime, Apolline remains obsessed with the game while Pablo moves on and enters a romantic relationship with Night, with whom he becomes embroiled in a dangerous conflict between rival drug dealer gangs.
