Elections in Sweden are held once every four years. At the highest level, all 349 members of Riksdag, the national parliament of Sweden, are elected in general elections. Elections to the 20 county councils and 290 municipal assemblies – all using almost the same electoral system – are held concurrently with the legislative elections on the second Sunday in September.
The prime ministerof Sweden is the head of government of Sweden. The prime minister and their cabinet exercise executive authority in the Kingdom of Sweden and are subject to the Parliament of Sweden. The prime minister is nominated by the speaker of the Riksdag and elected by the chamber by simple majority, using negative parliamentarianism. The Riksdag holds elections every four years, in the even year between leap years.
Ylva Anna Maria Lindh was a Swedish Social Democratic politician and lawyer who served as Minister for Foreign Affairs from 1998 until her death. She was also a Member of the Riksdag for Södermanland County until her assassination. On 10 September 2003, four days before a referendum on replacing the Swedish krona with the euro as currency, Lindh was stabbed by Mijailo Mijailović at the NK department store in central Stockholm; she died the next morning at Karolinska University Hospital. Anna Lindh had been seen as a likely candidate to succeed Göran Persson as Social Democratic party leader. Her greatest commitment was to international cooperation and solidarity, as well as to environmental issues. She worked on these issues throughout her career, serving as Environment Minister from 1994 to 1998, and then as Foreign Minister for the last five years of her life.
Anna Kristina Axén Olin is a Swedish Moderate politician and member of the Riksdag, she is currently a member and the Second vice-Speaker of the Education Committee. She currently takes up seat number 244 in the Riksdag. She was a member of the Justice Committee from her entry in the Riksdag until February 2019. She held the post of Mayor of Stockholm between 2006–2008, being the city's second female mayor. She also served as deputy chairman of the party from 2003 to 2009, when she was replaced by Beatrice Ask.
Kerstin Margareta Lundgren is a Swedish Centre Party politician. She has been a member of the Riksdag since 2002, taking up seat number 2 for Stockholm County's constituency. Since the September 24, 2018, Speaker of the Riksdag election, Lundgren was elected as third deputy speaker and serving as the current Third Deputy Speaker of the Riksdag. She is also a member of the AWEPA Governing Council.
Carl Robert Mikael Oscarsson, in Ödeshög in Östergötland County, is a Swedish politician for the Christian Democratic party. He's been a member for the Swedish Riksdag since 1998, taking up the number 28 seat for Uppsala County constituency.
Ewa Helena Björling is a Swedish politician and a member of the Moderate Party. She served as Minister for Foreign Trade from 2007 to 2014 and as Minister for Nordic Cooperation from 2010 to 2014 in the Swedish Government. She was a member of the Swedish Riksdag for Stockholm County from 2002 to 2014.
Annie Marie Therése Lööf is a Swedish politician and lawyer. She was Member of the Riksdag, representing her home constituency of Jönköping County, from 2006 to 2023, and leader of the Centre Party from September 2011 to February 2023. Lööf served as Minister for Enterprise from 2011 to 2014, in the Reinfeldt Cabinet.
General elections were held in Sweden on 9 September 2018 to elect the 349 members of the Riksdag. Regional and municipal elections were also held on the same day. The incumbent minority government, consisting of the Social Democrats and the Greens and supported by the Left Party, won 144 seats, one seat more than the four-party Alliance coalition, with the Sweden Democrats winning the remaining 62 seats. The Social Democrats' vote share fell to 28.3 percent, its lowest level of support since 1911.

Eva Magdalena Andersson is a Swedish politician and economist who has served as Leader of the Opposition since October 2022 and Leader of the Swedish Social Democratic Party since 2021. She has served as a Member of the Riksdag for Stockholm County since 2014. She previously served as Prime Minister of Sweden from November 2021 to October 2022, Minister for Finance from 2014 to 2021 and Chair of the International Monetary and Financial Committee from 2020 to 2022.
Erna Gunilla Svantorp is a Swedish Social Democratic politician, member of the Riksdag, and schoolteacher. She was elected in 2010 for the constituency of Värmland County and took up seat number 162, after the 2018 general election she was assigned seat number 22.
General elections were held in Sweden on 11 September 2022 to elect the 349 members of the Riksdag who in turn elected the Prime Minister of Sweden. Under the constitution, regional and municipal elections were also held on the same day. The preliminary results presented on 15 September showed the government parties lost their majority, which were confirmed by the final results published on 17 September. After a month of negotiations following the elections that led to the Tidö Agreement among the right-wing bloc, Moderate Party (M) leader Ulf Kristersson was elected Prime Minister on 17 October. The Kristersson Cabinet is a minority government that relies on confidence and supply from the Sweden Democrats (SD).
Lotta Johnsson Fornarve is a Swedish politician for the Left Party. She was elected to the Riksdag after the 2014 general election, taking up the number 2 seat for Södermanland County constituency. On September 24, 2018, after the election of the Speaker of the Riksdag Andreas Norlén, she was elected as Second Deputy Speaker of the Riksdag. She is a former member of the municipal council in Linköping Municipality and Oxelösund Municipality.
Juno Maria Petra Blom is a Swedish politician for the Liberals who served as the party secretary from June 2019 to April 2022. Blom became a member of the Liberals in 2017 and was elected as a member of the Riksdag after the 2018 Swedish general election, representing her home constituency Östergötland County, and campaigning that she would bring up policies and questions surrounding children's rights and the fight against honor violence. For twelve years, she has advocated against honor violence and honor oppresition in the regional council for Östergötland county.
Stockholm Municipality is one of the 29 multi-member constituencies of the Riksdag, the national legislature of Sweden. The constituency was established in 1970 when the Riksdag changed from a bicameral legislature to a unicameral legislature. It is conterminous with the municipality of Stockholm. The constituency currently elects 29 of the 349 members of the Riksdag using the open party-list proportional representation electoral system. At the 2022 general election it had 728,089 registered electors.
Bengt Eliasson is a Swedish politician and member of the Riksdag for the Liberals. He joined the Riksdag after the 2014 general elections, he is currently taking up seat number 41 in the Riksdag for the constituency of Halland County.
Eva Heléne Björklund is a Swedish social democratic politician who has been a member of the Riksdag since the 2018 general election. She takes up seat number 184 for Blekinge County's constituency but originally was seated on seat number 93. She is currently a member of the Committee on Defence.
