Casino Cosmopol is a Swedish company, a subsidiary of Svenska Spel, owning a casino. All the profit of the company goes to the national treasury of Sweden.

It was in 1999 in the old Customs House, Gothenburg (now Casino Cosmopol) that it was decided to open four state-involved casinos.

The four casinos opened in:[ citation needed ]

  1. Sundsvall opened on July 1, 2001 — closed in 2020
  2. Malmö opened on December 8, 2001 [1] - closed in 2024
  3. Gothenburg opened on August 31, 2002 [2] - closed in 2024
  4. Stockholm opened on March 13, 2003

Locations

The casino at Sundsvall was Sweden's first international casino, opened in July 2001. It was housed in the refurbished old central railway station, built in 1874. In 2012, it was voted Europe's best casino, [3] but it was closed in 2020 since it wasn't profitable. [4]

In Malmö in Skåne County, the casino was located in the center of the city in Kungsparken, and was opened in December 2001. Kungsparken is a large park that surrounds Malmö Castle.

The casino in Gothenburg was opened at the end of August 2002. It was housed in the old Customs House at Packhusplatsen. [5] The building had earlier been used as a poker lounge and had a seating area called Loser's lounge.

In March 2003, the fourth casino was opened in central Stockholm. The casino is located near the Kungsbron (King's bridge) — a continuation of the long street Kungsgatan (King's road). [6] The casino in Stockholm offers table games as well as poker cash-game with limits 10/10 (min buy-in 100/1000) and up to 100/100 (min buy-in 5000–10000). [7] [ non-primary source needed ]

In the start of 2024, it was announced that Svenska Spel will close down their casinos in Malmö and Gothenburg. These casinos closed on 24 February 2024. [8] The reasoning for the decision seems to be the lack of demand from players as more players move online to gamble.

Allsvenskan 2004, part of the 2004 Swedish football season, was the 80th Allsvenskan season played. The first match was played 3 April 2004 and the last match was played 30 October 2004. Malmö FF won the league ahead of runners-up Halmstads BK, while AIK and Trelleborgs FF were relegated.

Allsvenskan 2003, part of the 2003 Swedish football season, was the 79th Allsvenskan season played. The first match was played 5 April 2003 and the last match was played 26 October 2003. Djurgårdens IF won the league ahead of runners-up Hammarby IF, while Östers IF and Enköpings SK were relegated.

Allsvenskan 1992, part of the 1992 Swedish football season, was the 68th Allsvenskan season played. IFK Norrköping won the league ahead of runners-up Östers IF, and advanced to Mästerskapsserien 1992 along with the teams placed 3 to 6, while the teams placed 7 to 10 advanced to Kvalsvenskan 1992.

Events from the year 2001 in Sweden

The 2017 Allsvenskan, part of the 2017 Swedish football season, is the 93rd season of Allsvenskan since its establishment in 1924. The season began on 1 April 2017 and ended on 5 November the same year. Fixtures for the 2017 season were announced on 9 December 2016. A total of 16 teams participated.

The 2018 Allsvenskan, part of the 2018 Swedish football season, was the 94th season of Allsvenskan since its establishment in 1924. A total of 16 teams participated. As the 2018 FIFA World Cup will start on 14 June, the last round before stoppage will be held on 27 May. The league will resume games on 7 July.

The 2022 Allsvenskan was the 98th season since its establishment in 1924 of Sweden's top-level football league, Allsvenskan. A total of 16 teams participated. Malmö FF were the defending champions after winning the title in the previous season.
