Cassandra Dimovski (born 27 December 1993) is an Australian football (soccer) goalkeeper who most recently played for the Melbourne Victory in the W-League, the top division of women's soccer in Australia. [1]

Early life

Dimovski was raised in Lower Plenty, a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria where she attended Templestowe College. [2] At age 14, she was scouted by a teacher to play for club team Eltham Redbacks. Originally playing as a midfielder, she changed to the goalkeeper position. [2] Dimovski also played for club team Box Hill Inter where she played with Matildas goalkeeper and captain Melissa Barbieri. [2]

Melbourne Victory, 2011–2016

Primarily playing for the Melbourne Victory as a backup goalkeeper, [3] Dimovski earned caps for the team in December 2013 after the team's primary goalkeeper Brianna Davey was injured [4] [5] and helped the team finish third during the regular season. After advancing to the playoffs, the Victory eventually won the Grand Final. [6] [7] [8]

In October 2015, it was announced that Dimovski was one of three Australian Victory players to return to the squad for the 2015–16 season. [9]

International

In 2012, Dimovski played for the Victorian National Training Centre (NTC) Girls Team in consideration for the senior national team. [10]

Brianna Iris Davey is an Australian footballer in both the Association football (soccer) and Australian rules football codes. In soccer, she was a goalkeeper for the national women's team the Matildas and played in the W-League for Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City. In 2016, she transitioned from soccer to Australian rules football, and was one of two initial marquee recruits for the Carlton Football Club in the AFL Women's (AFLW). She won the inaugural Carlton best and fairest award and was named in the 2017 AFL Women's All-Australian team. Davey served as Carlton captain from 2018 to 2019 before being traded to the Collingwood Football Club. The 2011–12 season was the fourth season that Melbourne Victory competed in the Australian W-League. The team finished fourth for the second time in two seasons and was eliminated in the semi-finals by eventual champions Canberra United.

The 2014–15 A-League was the 38th season of top-flight soccer in Australia, and the 10th season of the A-League since its establishment in 2004. Brisbane Roar were both the defending A-League Premiers and Champions. The regular season commenced on 10 October 2014 and concluded on 26 April 2015. The 2015 Grand Final took place on 17 May 2015. The season was suspended from 9–24 January in order to avoid a clash with the 2015 AFC Asian Cup, which was hosted by Australia.
