Tobago is an island within the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. It is located 35 kilometres (22 mi) northeast of the larger island of Trinidad and about 160 kilometres (99 mi) off the northeastern coast of Venezuela. It also lies to the southeast of Grenada. The official bird of Tobago is the cocrico.
The Windward Islands, also known as the Islands of Barlovento, are the southern, generally larger islands of the Lesser Antilles, within the West Indies. They lie south of the Leeward Islands, approximately between latitudes 10° and 16° N and longitudes 60° and 62° W. The name was also used to refer to a British colony in these islands, existing between 1833 and 1960 and consisting of the islands of Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent, the Grenadines, and Grenada, which today make up three sovereign nations. The island of Dominica, also today a sovereign nation, was traditionally a part of the Leeward Islands until 1940, when it was transferred from the Leeward Islands colony to the Windward Islands.
Buenos Ayres is a town in Trinidad and Tobago. It is located in southwestern Trinidad, north of Erin and southeast of Point Fortin. Buenos Ayres is the hometown of the calypsonian Cro Cro. The Erin Savannas, one of the last remaining natural savannas in Trinidad and Tobago is located just east of Buenos Ayres.
Scarborough is a city and the capital of the Island of Tobago as well as the eleventh-most-populous in Trinidad and Tobago. Scarborough became the capital of Tobago in 1769. Situated in western Tobago, Scarborough is the economic and cultural centre of the island of Tobago. The estimated population in 2011 was 17,537. Scarborough is ranked as one of Trinidad and Tobago's most densely populated towns alongside Port of Spain, San Fernando, Chaguanas and Arima. The city's skyline is dominated by Fort King George, an 18th-century fortification named after King George III, which now hosts a historic and archaeologic museum. Scarborough's deepwater harbour was built in 1991; before that ships were forced to anchor offshore.
The Dwight Yorke Stadium, located in Bacolet, Scarborough, Tobago,, is named after former Aston Villa, Manchester United, Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City, Sydney, Sunderland and Trinidad and Tobago footballer Dwight Yorke. The stadium was constructed for the 2001 FIFA U-17 World Championship which was hosted by Trinidad and Tobago. The Dwight Yorke Stadium has a capacity of 7,500, it is located on the Island of Tobago, only one minute from the capital Scarborough and 25 minutes from the airport. The stadium is used by the local football team and the playing surface dimension is 105 metres x 68 metres.
Monos is an island in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. It is one of the "Bocas Islands", which lie in the Bocas del Dragón between Trinidad and Venezuela. It is so named as the island was once home to noisy red howler monkeys. It has an estimated area of 458 hectares.
Chacachacare is an island in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, located at 10° 41' north latitude and 61° 45' west longitude. The island is 360 hectares in area.
Saint Giles Island is the largest in a group of small islands off the northeast tip of Tobago. It is the northernmost point in Trinidad and Tobago. It is very steep sided and hosts tropical dry forest and wind-swept littoral scrub.
A. N. R. Robinson International Airport is an international airport located on Crown Point, Tobago in Trinidad and Tobago. It is located in the southwesternmost part of the island, near the town of Canaan, and 11 km (6.8 mi) from the capital, Scarborough. The airport is one of two international airports serving the twin isle republic of Trinidad and Tobago. The other airport is located on the island of Trinidad, Piarco International Airport.
Canaan is a small village in southwestern Tobago situated about 5 minutes from Arthur Napoleon Raymond Robinson International Airport, and the popular beaches of Store Bay and Pigeon Point. It is between the towns of Bon Accord and Lowlands. It boasts amenities such as one of the largest supermarkets in Tobago, one of the newest branches of the First Citizens Bank, a popular bakery, car dealership, and a noticeable number of other shops. Canaan is the birthplace of footballer Dwight Yorke.
Grenadines is an administrative parish of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, comprising the islands of the Grenadines other than those belonging to Grenada. The capital is Port Elizabeth.
Trinidad and Tobago, officially the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, is the southernmost island country in the Caribbean and is known for its fossil-fuel wealth. Consisting of the main islands Trinidad and Tobago, and numerous much smaller islands, it is situated 130 kilometres south of Grenada and 11 kilometres off the coast of northeastern Venezuela. It shares maritime boundaries with Barbados to the northeast, Grenada to the northwest and Venezuela to the south and west.
Englishman's Bay is a secluded beach on the leeward coast of Tobago, between Castara and Parlatuvier. Although the bay draws fewer beach-goers that Tobago's western beaches do, it is considered one of the island's most beautiful. The beach itself is a classic crescent shape, capped by two heavily forested headlands descending from Tobago's Main Ridge. The sand starts immediately after the forest ends and is of a shallow to medium gradient and somewhat coarse grain. The beach's size changes little at high or low tides, due to the gradient. There is heavy beach break. Owing to the number of waves, the beach does not boast magnificent snorkeling. As of 2018, there is one small restaurant/gift shop, Eula's, and a single-stall male and female bathroom.
Main Ridge is the main mountainous ridge on the island of Tobago, Trinidad and Tobago. It is a 29-kilometre (18 mi) chain of hills which runs from southwest to northeast between the Caribbean Sea and the Southern Tobago fault system and reaches a maximum height of 572 m (1,877 ft). The Main Ridge Forest Reserve, which was legally established in 1776, is one of the oldest protected areas in the world. It is a popular site for birdwatching and ecotourism. Main Ridge provides important habitat for native plants and animals, including several species endemic to Tobago.
Bacolet is a town and suburb in the city of Scarborough on the island of Tobago, Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. The town itself lies beneath Fort King George at the Bacolet Bay, just outside the city center to the south-east of the island's capital. It is one of the most developed parts of Tobago, and much of the island's high society lives there. There are also many villas and hotels for tourists.
Carrera Island is one of the two Diego Islands in the Gulf of Paria, Trinidad and Tobago. Situated off the northwest peninsula of Trinidad, the islet comprises approximately 20 acres (8.1 ha). When Trinidad was under Spanish rule, Carrera Island was known as Isla Carrera.
