Catherine Adipo

Catherine Adipo (also referred to as Catherine Constance Adipo [1] and Catherine Adipo Wejuli [2] ) is a Ugandan sportswoman, sports administrator and the first female FIFA referee in Uganda as well as East and Central Africa. [3]

Background and education

Adipo is one of 16 children born to the late Reverend Canon Kezironi Wejuli and Abisiagi Wejuli. [4]

Adipo attended Busia Integrated School, Mt.St.Mary's College, Namagunga [5] and King's College Budo. She graduated from Makerere University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geography and Languages in 1987. She also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Education still from Makerere University [4] and a Master's degree in Sports science from Kyambogo University. [6]

In 2011, it was alleged that while still a lecturer at Kyambogo University, Adipo had travelled to China on a Uganda Olympics Committee ticket to represent the organisation yet she was not a member of the said organisation. [11]

In the 2024/2025 season, two Uganda premier league clubs URA FC and Express FC used Hamz stadium as their home ground.The stadium had a capacity of about 21,000 people, but upon partial completion of the renovations started in 2017, President Museveni commissioned the stadium on 25 April 2024. It will have a total seating capacity of 15,000 people upon final completion.

He also served as secretary of Uganda Football Association which is nowadays known as FUFA. Nkata was the first indigenous Ugandan to gain formal membership of a golf club. He was secretary of the Uganda Golf Union in 1980.

Roy Mubiru is a Ugandan powerlifter. He participated in the 2022 Strongman Championship.

Charles Ayiekoh Lukula is a Ugandan football coach. He was the head of coach at FUFA Women Super League Champions Kampala Queens FC.
