Kyambogo University (KYU) is a public university in Uganda. It is one of the largest University in Uganda and is among the eight public universities and degree-awarding institutions in the country with the motto, "Knowledge and Skills for Service."
Kyambogo University was established in 2003 by the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act 2001 by merging Uganda Polytechnic Kyambogo (UPK), the Institute of Teacher Education, Kyambogo (ITEK), and the Uganda Nationalstitute of Special Education (UNISE). [3]
In 1928, the trade and technical courses at Makerere College (now Makerere University) were split off into the new Kampala Technical School. [4] The school moved to Nakawa and became the Kampala Technical Institute. [5] In 1958, that school was moved to Kyambogo renamed Uganda Technical College and then was finally renamed Uganda Polytechnic, Kyambogo.
ITEK started as a government teacher training college in 1948 at Nyakasura, Kabarole District. In 1954, it transferred to Kyambogo Hill as a national teachers’ college and later became ITEK by statute of parliament in 1989. [6]
UNISE was affiliated to the Department of Special Education at the faculty of education of Makerere University, becoming an autonomous institution by Act of Parliament in 1998.
The university campus is located on Kyambogo Hill, approximately 8 kilometres (5 mi), by road, east of the central business district of Kampala, the capital city of Uganda. [7] The geographical coordinates of the university campus are: 0°21'00.0"N, 32°37'48.0"E (Latitude:0.350000; Longitude:32.630000). [8]

Apolo Robin Nsibambi was a Ugandan academic and politician who served as the 8th Prime Minister of Uganda from 5 April 1999 until 24 May 2011, when Amama Mbabazi succeeded him.
Makerere University is Uganda's largest and oldest institution of higher learning, first established as a technical school in 1922, and the oldest currently active university in East Africa. It became an independent national university in 1970. Today, Makerere University is composed of nine colleges and one school, offering programmes for about 36,000 undergraduates and 4,000 postgraduates. These colleges include College of Natural Sciences (CONAS), College of Health Sciences (CHS), College of Engineering Art & Design (CEDAT), College of Agriculture and Environmental Studies (CAES), College Of Business and Management Sciences (CoBAMS), College of Humanities & Social Sciences (CHUSS), College of Computing and Information Sciences (COCIS), College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources & Bio-security (COVAB), College of Education and External Studies (CEES) and Makerere University Business School (MUBS). In addition, Makerere has onother campus in Eastern Uganda Jinja City.
Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) is a private University affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church in Uganda. The University is owned by the Episcopal Conference of the Catholic Bishops of Uganda. It is licensed by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education. UMU consists of seven Faculties, two Institute, six Campuses, nine Departments, and three schools. As of March 2022, total student enrollment is 4,632. Of these, about 1,500 students were residential, while nearly 3,000 students were enrolled in UMU's distance learning programs. The number of staff members was over 400.

Makerere University Business School (MUBS) is the school of business of Makerere University, Uganda's oldest university. MUBS provides business and management education at the certificate, diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Rukiya Kulany Chekamondo, sometimes spelled as Rukia Kulany Chekamondo, is a Ugandan educator and politician. She was the State Minister for Privatization in the Ministry of Finance, from June 2006 until May 2011. In the cabinet reshuffle of 27 May 2011, she was dropped from the cabinet and replaced by Aston Kajara. She also served as the elected Member of Parliament (MP), for Kapchorwa District Women's Representative, from 2006 until 2011. During the 2011 national elections, she was defeated by the current incumbent MP, Phyllis Chemutai, an Independent politician.

John Pancras Mukasa Lubowa Ssebuwufu, commonly known as John Ssebuwufu is a Ugandan chemist, academic and administrator. He is a former chancellor of Kyambogo University, Uganda's second-largest public university serving between 2014-2022 having served for 2 terms. He was installed as chancellor on 19 February 2014, replacing Eric Tiyo Adriko, who had completed his two term tenure. The correct spelling of his last name is Ssebuwufu. However the literature contains many instances where the name is spelled with a single "s".
Arthur Sserwanga is a Ugandan accountant, academic, and academic administrator. He was appointed Vice Chancellor of Muteesa I Royal University in September 2014, a private university in Uganda. He previously served as the dean of the Faculty of Commerce at Makerere University Business School (MUBS).
Hannington Sengendo is a Ugandan academic, urban planner and academic administrator. Currently, he is the vice chancellor of Nkumba University, a private University in Uganda, which was accredited by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education in 1999. He was installed in that position on Friday 21 June 2013.
The Uganda National Council for Higher Education (UNCHE) is a semi-autonomous government regulatory agency, responsible for the regulation of higher education in Uganda, the third-largest economy in the East African Community. UNCHE is also responsible for provision of guidance in the establishment of institutions of higher education and the provision of assurance that quality and relevant education is delivered, by the licensed institutions.
Eriabu Lugujjo is an electrical engineer, academic and academic administrator. He is the current vice chancellor of Ndejje University, a private Christian university, which was licensed by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education, in 1992. He was appointed to that position in July 2012.
Venansius Baryamureeba is a Ugandan mathematician, computer scientist, academic, and academic administrator. He was the Acting vice chancellor of the Uganda Technology and Management University, a private university in Uganda, from September 2013 until 28 September 2015. He left the position to join the presidential race in Uganda to take place in 2016. Before that, he served as the vice chancellor of Makerere University from November 2009 until August 2012.
Professor Emmanuel Karooro is a Ugandan educator, academic and academic administrator, who serves as the vice-chancellor at Ibanda University, a private co-educational institution of higher learning in the Western Region of Uganda.
