The Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU) is a private university in Uganda founded in 2012 and licensed by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education (UNCHE). [3]

Location

The university campus is located at Plot 6, Erisa Road, Kiswa, Bugoloobi, in Nakawa Division, one of the five administrative divisions of Kampala, the capital and largest city of Uganda. This is about 5 kilometres (3 mi), by road, east of the central business district of the city. History

UTAMU was founded in 2012 by a group of academicians in Uganda and currently with a shareholding of 27 members. It was offered a licence to run degree programmes in March 2013 by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) the governmental body that licenses institutions of higher learning in the country. UTAMU started initially with five undergraduate degree courses in business and information technology. [6]

Academic structure

As of July 2014, the university operated in the following schools: [7]

  1. School of Computing and Engineering
  2. School of Business and Management
  3. School of Professional and Vocational Education and
  4. School of Graduate Studies.

Academics

In its second year of operation, the university expanded its undergraduate degree menu from the original five courses to about two dozen courses in business and information technology. [8]

Academic diplomas are offered to undergraduate and graduate students in a number of disciplines. Certificates are offered to undergraduate and graduate students in a number of disciplines. The university offers the degrees of Master of Science, Masters of Arts, and Doctor of Philosophy in many disciplines in all four schools. [9] [10]

Stafford University Uganda (SUU) is a private university in Uganda that was established in September 2010 after receiving a licence in October 2009 from the Uganda National Council for Higher Education (UNCHE).

Multitech Business School (MBS) is a privately owned institution of higher education, which offers degree, diploma and certificate courses in multiple business disciplines, in Uganda. It is recognized by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education, as a private, tertiary degree-awarding institution of higher learning.

Nile University (NUU) is a privately owned institution of higher education in Uganda. It is accredited and licensed by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education (UNCHE).

ISBAT University (ISBAT), whose complete name is International Business, Science And Technology University, is a chartered university in Uganda.

Team University (TU) is a private, co-educational Ugandan university in the Buganda Region of Uganda. It is accredited as a "private university", by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education (UNCHE).

Nexus International University (NIU), formerly Virtual University of Uganda (VUU) is a private university in Uganda. The institution is accredited and supervised by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education (UNCHE).
