Rukiya Kulany Chekamondo (born 7 October 1965), sometimes spelled as Rukia Kulany Chekamondo, is a Ugandan educator and politician. She was the State Minister for Privatization in the Ministry of Finance, from June 2006 until May 2011. [1] In the cabinet reshuffle of 27 May 2011, she was dropped from the cabinet and replaced by Aston Kajara. [2] She also served as the elected Member of Parliament (MP), for Kapchorwa District Women's Representative, from 2006 until 2011. During the 2011 national elections, she was defeated by the current incumbent MP, Phyllis Chemutai, an Independent politician. [3]

Education

Rukiya Kulany Chekamondo obtained her Grade III Certificate in Education, in 1986, from the Institute of Teacher Education (ITEK), one of the institutions that coalesced to become Kyambogo University. She went on to obtain the Diploma in Secondary Education, in 1993, also from ITEK. Her degree of Bachelor of Education in the English Language and English Literature, was obtained in 1999, from Makerere University, Uganda's oldest university, established in 1922. She also holds Postgraduate Diplomas in Education Planning & Management (1999), and in Guidance & Counseling (2001), both from ITEK. Her Master of Education degree in Language Education and English Literature was obtained in 2004 from Makerere University. [4]

Work experience

She has been a teacher since she obtained her first teaching certificate in 1986. Between 1993 and 1995, she served a Matron, at Bilal Islamic Institute, a school in Kampala, Uganda's capital city. [5] She joined politics in 2006, contesting for the Kapchorwa District, Women's Representative Constituency on the National Resistance Movement (NRM), political party ticket. She won, and on 1 June 2006, she was appointed Minister of State for Privatization. [6] During March 2011, she lost her parliamentary seat and during May 2011, she was dropped from the cabinet in a reshuffle.

Personal details

Rukiya Chekamondo is married. He belongs to the National Resistance Movement political party. Her interests include reading, research and gender issues.

Minister of Trade and Industry from June 2006 until February 2009. In May 2011, she temporarily retired from politics and was replaced in the cabinet by Kiddu Makubuya. She also served as the elected member of Parliament for Mukono South Constituency in Mukono District, from 2006 until her retirement in 2011.

Hope Ruhindi Mwesigye is a Ugandan lawyer and politician. She is the former Minister for Agriculture, Animal Industry & Fisheries from 16 February 2009 until 27 May 2011. Prior to that, she served as the State Minister for Local Government, from June 2006 until February 2011. In the cabinet reshuffle of 27 May 2011, she was dropped from the cabinet and replaced by Tress Bucyanayandi.

Henry Aggrey Bagiire is a Ugandan politician and educator. He served as the State Minister for Agriculture in the Cabinet of Uganda from 16 February 2009 until 27 May 2011. He also served as the elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Bunya County West, Mayuge District, from 2006 to 2009.

Frederick Douglas Mwanja Mukisa was a Ugandan educator and politician. He served as the State Minister for Fisheries in the Ugandan Cabinet, from 1 June 2006 until 27 May 2011. In the cabinet reshuffle of 27 May 2011, he was dropped from the cabinet and replaced by Ruth Nankabirwa. In the cabinet reshuffle on 27 May 2011, he was dropped from the cabinet and was replaced by Asuman Kiyingi. He also served as the elected Member of Parliament (MP), representing "Buzaaya County", Kamuli District, from 1996 until 2011. During the 2011 national elections, he lost to Muzaale Martin Kisule Mugabi, during the National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries. In 2016, he bounced back into the 10th parliament, representing Buzaaya County, in Kamuli District, on the NRM ticket. In the 2021 elections, he lost in the NRM primaries to Martin Muzaale and decided to contest as an Independent candidate and further lost to the NRM’s flag bearer, Muzaale Martin Kisule Mugabi

Jenipher Kacha Namuyangu, also Jennifer Namuyangu Byakatonda, but commonly referred to as Jennifer Namuyangu, is a Ugandan politician and environmentalist. She belongs to the National Resistance Movement political party. She is the Minister of State for Local Government in the Ugandan Cabinet. She was appointed to that position on 6 June 2016. She previously served as the Minister of State for Water Resources, from 1 June 2006 until 27 May 2011. In the Cabinet reshuffle on 27 May 2011, she was dropped from the cabinet and was replaced by Betty Bigombe. She also served as the elected Member of Parliament for Pallisa District Women's Representative, from 2001 until 2011. In 2010, Pallisa District was split into two, to create Kibuku District. Namuyangu contested for the parliamentary seat of Kibuku County, Kibuku District. She lost to Saleh Kamba by a wide margin.

Jessica Eriyo was a Ugandan educator, social worker, politician and diplomat. She served as the Deputy Secretary General of the East African Community, (EAC), responsible for Productive & Social Sectors. She was appointed to that position on 30 April 2012.

Simon Ejua is a Ugandan politician. He was the state minister for transport in the Ugandan Cabinet from 1 June 2006 until 27 May 2011. He survived the cabinet reshuffle of 16 February 2009. In the cabinet reshuffle of 27 May 2011, he was dropped from the cabinet and was replaced by Stephen Chebrot He also served as the elected Member of Parliament, representing Vurra County, Arua District, from 2006 until 2011. In the 2011 national elections, he lost his parliamentary seat to Sam Agatre Okuonzi, an independent politician, who is the incumbent MP for that constituency.

Fredrick Ruhindi, more commonly known as Freddie Ruhindi or Fred Ruhindi, is a Ugandan lawyer and politician. He was Attorney General of Uganda from 1 March 2015 to 2016. Between 2 June 2006 and 28 February 2015, he served as the State Minister for Justice & Constitutional Affairs in the Ugandan Cabinet. He has served in that capacity since 2006. In the cabinet reshuffle of 16 February 2009, and that of 27 May 2011, he retained his cabinet post. He is also the elected Member of Parliament representing Nakawa Division in Kampala District.

Sezi Prisca Bessy Mbaguta was a Ugandan politician and civil servant. She was the State Minister for Public Service in the Ugandan Cabinet. She was appointed to that position in June 2006. In the cabinet reshuffle of 16 February 2009, and that of 27 May 2011, she retained her cabinet portfolio. Mbaguta is the elected Member of Parliament for Rukungiri District Women's Representative.

Lukia Isanga Nakadama, sometimes written Rukia Isanga Nakadama, is a Ugandan businesswoman, educator and politician. She is the current Third Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda and Minister Without Portfolio, effective 9 June 2021.

Rebecca Amuge Otengo is a Ugandan politician. As of 2017, she was appointed as Uganda's Ambassador to Ethiopia and Djibouti with residence in Addis Ababa. This position also makes her Uganda's Permanent Representative to the African Union (AU), Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) as well as UNECA She is the former State Minister for Northern Uganda in the Cabinet of Uganda. She was appointed to that position on 27 May 2011. Rebecca Amuge was an elected Member of Parliament as Alebtong District Women's Representative.

Christine Hellen Amongin Aporu is a Ugandan educator and politician. She served as the State Minister for Teso Affairs in the Office of the Prime Minister in the Cabinet of Uganda. She was appointed to that position on 27 May 2011. She represented Kumi District in Parliament as a women's representative.

Richard Todwong is a Ugandan politician. He is the Secretary General of the National Resistance Movement He was the Minister Without Portfolio in the Ugandan Cabinet. He was appointed to that position on 15 August 2012. He replaced Nasser Sebaggala who was appointed in May 2011, but was rejected by parliament. Richard Todwong was also the elected Member of Parliament for Nwoya County, Nwoya District.

Sam Mangusho Cheptoris is a Ugandan politician. He is the Cabinet Minister of Water and Environment in the Cabinet of Uganda. He was appointed to that position on 6 June 2016. In 2021 he was elected as member of parliament for Kapchorwa Municipality.
