The Catholic University of Malawi is a fast-growing institution of higher learning accredited by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) to offer Degrees, Diplomas, and Certificates. It was established by the Episcopal Conference of Malawi on October 16, 2004, and officially opened its doors in 2006. The university has seven faculties, namely Education, Law, Theology, Social Sciences, Science, Commerce and, Nursing and Midwifery. [1] [2] [3]
The Catholic Church has been involved in education in Malawi for over a hundred years. Its first school was established on 2 February 1902 at Nzama in Ntcheu District by three Montfort Missionaries: Fr. Pierre Bourget SMM (Superior), Fr. Augustine Prezeau SMM (who later became the first Apostolic Prefect of Shire) and Fr. Anton Winnen SMM, in charge of the first Catholic primary school in the country which he used to call ‘The University of Nzama’. The ‘University’ started with eight students – men, women, and children aged between six and sixty years.
In spite of so many setbacks, by the late 1950s, the Catholic Church ran 1249 of the 2884 primary schools in Nyasaland (Malawi), and of the 24 grant-aided secondary schools and teacher training colleges, 13 were run by the Catholic Church. Just as the Church's achievements at primary school level necessitated the establishment of Catholic secondary schools in the fifties, its achievements at the secondary school level called for the establishment of a Catholic University.
It is against this background that on 15 September 2004, the Bishops sent the chairperson for Education to meet the then Minister of Education to, among other things, alert him about the Episcopal Conference of Malawi's intention to request the FIC Brothers to turn Montfort Teachers Training College into a Catholic University.
The then Minister of Education, Hon. Yusuf Mwawa, warmly welcomed the idea. In addition, he asked the then Principal Secretary for Education (Dr S.A. Hau) to arrange that one or two officers be included in the taskforce of the Catholic University to assist in the establishment of the university. This was indeed done and a number of task force meetings were attended by a representative of the Principal Secretary. In partnership with the Malawi Government, through the Ministry of Education, on 28 October 2006, the State President, late professor Bingu wa Mutharika officially opened The Catholic University of Malawi.
Since then, student enrolment has steadily increased from 129 to 4000 plus students by 2020. The university was accredited in January 2009. In seven years of its existence, CUNIMA has officiated nineteen graduations. The university is into an affiliation agreement with the Inter Congregational Institute (ICI), and affiliation with other institutions of higher learning namely, Kachebere and St Peter's Major Seminaries.
Education in Australia encompasses the sectors of early childhood education (preschool) and primary education, followed by secondary education, and finally tertiary education, which includes higher education and vocational education. Regulation and funding of education is primarily the responsibility of the States and territories; however, the Australian Government also plays a funding role.

In the last decade, Argentina has created nine new universities, while the outflow of university students increased by 68%.
Balaka is a township in Southern Region, Malawi and headquarters for the Balaka District. The township was formerly a boma of Machinga District, before the Balaka District was created in 1998.
Trinity International University (TIU) is an evangelical Christian university headquartered in Bannockburn, Illinois. It comprises Trinity College, a theological seminary, a law school, and a camp called Timber-lee. The university also maintains campuses in North Lauderdale, Florida and Miami, Florida; the camp is located in East Troy, Wisconsin. TIU is the only university affiliated with Evangelical Free Church of America in the United States and enrolls 1,242 students. On February 17, 2023, TIU announced it was moving the undergraduate program to online modalities only and closed the residential campus at the end of the Spring 2023 semester. The online undergraduate program is ending at the end of the Spring 2024 semester.
Education in Kenya refers to the institutionalised education system in Kenya, whereby pupils and students are taught in specific locations, following a particular curriculum. The institutionalised system differs from traditional education which had been in existence long before missionarisation and colonisation, and was administered according to the various indigenous groups' cultures and customs.

Open University is a public university in South Tangerang, Banten, Indonesia. The university employs a Open and Distance Learning (ODL) system to widen access to higher education to all Indonesian citizens, including those who live in remote islands throughout the country, and in various parts of the world. It has a total student body of 1,045,665. According to a distance education institution in the UK, which published "The Top Ten Mega Universities", UT-3 ranks closely with universities from China and Turkey.

The Presbyterian University, Ghana is a partially private & public university with multi- campuses and its headquarters located at Abetifi-Kwahu in the Eastern Region of Ghana. It is one of the new universities in Ghana granted accreditation by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission – GTEC. It was established by the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) on 23 November 2003 and inaugurated on 27 March 2004 by the former president of Ghana in that republic, John Agyekum Kufuor.
St. Joseph Academy is a traditional Roman Catholic K–12 school located in San Marcos, CA. Its stated mission is "to transform human society through the most effective means possible, namely through training the youth in faith, reason, and virtue". The school is operated independent of the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego and offers a complete K-12 education. St. Joseph Academy has been named by the Catholic High School Honor Roll as one of the top 50 Catholic High Schools in the United States for three consecutive years and carries a 99% college matriculation rate. Ateneo de Naga University and also referred to by its acronym AdNU, is a private Catholic Jesuit basic and higher education institution run by the Philippine Province of the Society of Jesus in Naga City, Camarines Sur, Philippines. It was established in 1940 when the Jesuits took over the administration of the diocesan school, Camarines Sur Catholic Academy. The Jesuits renamed the school Ateneo de Naga after taking control. The Jesuits were naming all the schools that they were opening at that time Ateneo. Ateneo de Naga was the fourth school named Ateneo by the Jesuits. Typical of universities in the Philippines, AdNU has primary and secondary departments, which are both coeducational.

George Desmond Tambala is a Malawian Catholic prelate who is the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe in Malawi. He was appointed Archbishop of Lilongwe on 15 October 2021 by Pope Francis.
