Cathrine Marie Lofthus (born 1970) is a Norwegian physician, health administrator and civil servant. Since 2015 she serves as permanent under-secretary of state in the Ministry of Health and Care Services.

Personal life and career

Born on 27 October 1970, Lofthus has a dr. degree in medicine, as well as administrative education. [1]

From 2012 to 2015 she served as vice director of the Oslo University Hospital. In May 2015 she was appointed permanent under-secretary of state (departementsråd) in the Ministry of Health and Care Services. [1]

Karin Maria Bruzelius is a Swedish-born Norwegian supreme court justice and former president of the Norwegian Association for Women's Rights. In 1989, she became the first woman to be appointed Permanent Secretary of a government ministry, heading the Ministry of Transport and Communications until 1997. She was appointed supreme court justice on the Supreme Court of Norway in 1997, retiring in 2011. She has previously also been a director-general in the Ministry of Justice and a corporate lawyer.
