The Central South Regional Football Association Division One League, also known as the CSRFA Division One, is one of the regional leagues [1] that make up the third tier of Botswana football. It is administered by the Central South Regional Football Association and features teams from in and around Mahalapye. [2]

Mahalapye is a town located in the Central District of Botswana. The town has about 41,000 inhabitants and is situated along the main road between the capital Gaborone and the second largest city Francistown. Mahalapye has a bus station, a railway station, a couple of hotels and a market area with many shops and fast food restaurants, Water Shed mall is the latest attraction to those travelling from Gaborone to Francistown, great place for refreshments. It also has several petrol stations, some open 24 hours per day. Being situated on the edge of the Kalahari desert it is quite dry, and the local waterways are dry except during the rainy season. In recent times, it has become a convenient stop-over town for travelers travelling to and from Gaborone.

Mmutlane, also known as Mmutlana, is a village in the Central District of Botswana. It is located 30 km north-west of Mahalapye, close to the village of Shoshong. Mmutlane has a primary school, and the population was 841 in the 2001 census.

Mosolotshane is a village in Central District of Botswana. It is located 50 km east of Mahalapye and 20 km north-east of Shoshong. Mosolotshane has a primary school and a health clinic, and the population was 1,796 in 2001 census.

Football is the number one sport in Botswana. It is organized by the Botswana Football Association. By October 2007, there are about 348 men's clubs registered. The number of woman's teams organized in the regional leagues by the season of 2021/22 is 88. The men's national team have not yet enjoyed any tangible success on the field. The women's team have achieved their greatest success by qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time, where they've reached the first knockout stage. There are less than a handful of male and female players based outside of their home country, the most famous being forward Dipsy Selolwane.

The 2010–2011 Southern Africa floods were a series of floods across three countries in Southern Africa. Linked to a La Niña event, above-average rains starting in December led to widespread flooding. Thousands of people were displaced and evacuations of more continued. As of 24 January 2011, at least 141 people are known to have been killed, including 88 in KwaZulu Natal. The South African government declared 33 disaster zones.

For association football in Botswana, the Botswana First Division South is the second-tier professional football league in Botswana. Founded in 1966 after Botswana was granted independence, it is administered by the Botswana Football Association and features teams from the southern part of the country.

Mahalapye Railway Highlanders are a football club in the Botswana Premier League who play home games in Molepolole, but are based out of Mahalapye.

Thabo Motang is a Motswana football coach and former player currently managing Township Rollers in the Botswana Premier League. Often regarded as one of the best Botswana goalkeepers of all time, he played for several teams including Township Rollers, where he became one of their longest serving players, BMC and Mahalapye United Hotpurs.
