Centre for Social Justice(CSJ) is an NGO with its secretariat based in Lahore, Pakistan that engages in result-oriented research, evidence-based public policy advocacy and capacity building concerning human rights, democratic development and social justice for the marginalized groups in Pakistan in particular. It engages actively in policy dialogue with government departments/ ministries, educational institutions, national human rights institutions and civil society at large. [1] [2]

Leadership

Peter Jacob, known as human rights defender, trainer, and columnist, [3] is working as the Exclusive Director, and Suneel Malik as the Deputy Director of the Centre for Social Justice. [4]

Working Group for Inclusive Education

Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) facilitates functions and coordination among the Working Group for Inclusive Education [5] that is composed of eminent educationists, researchers and policy experts from Pakistan. [6] It engages in research based analysis, monitoring policy-making processes and evidence based advocacy for reforms in education sector particularly relating to curriculum, education policy and textbooks, [7] and developing perspectives through discussions, dialogue with policy makers and influencers, to draw attention to facilitate inclusive, equitable and quality learning. [8]

Peoples Commission for Minorities' Rights

Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) facilitates functions and coordination for Peoples’ Commission for Minorities’ Rights (PCMR) [9] that is composed of individuals from academia, journalism, legal practice having proficiency in the rights based work and individual credibility from various regions of the country. PCMR engages in awareness raising and advocacy for legislation on matters that affect religious minorities, [10] [11] and issuing press statements on violations of human rights as well as speak on the policy issues. Centre for Social Justice has produced numerous research studies on specific themes relating to human rights.

  1. White Paper on Confusing Demographics of Minorities, an assessment of the data from population census in Pakistan.
  2. Human Rights Observer, a factsheet on the rights of religious minorities in Pakistan, covering cases of blasphemy laws, forced conversions, and standpoint on educational reforms and population census.
  3. Quality Education Vs Fanatic Literacy, a study based on the analysis of policies and textbooks content.
  4. Challenges in Exercising Religious Freedom in Pakistan

  8. Justice Yet Afar, A Long Wait for Justice, a compliance assessment of the Supreme Court’s Verdict (SMC No. 1/2014) regarding minorities rights, given by then Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani on 19 June 2014.

He re-elected as Member National Assembly of Pakistan in 2024 Pakistani general election from newly formed constituency NA-194 Larkana-I taken oath February 2024.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">National Commission for Justice and Peace</span>

Catholic (National) Commission for Justice and Peace (NCJP) was formed in 1985 by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Pakistan. It provides services in the field of human rights advocacy.

The Pakistani textbooks controversy refers to claimed inaccuracies and historical denialism. The inaccuracies and myths promote religious intolerance and Indophobia and lead to calls for curriculum reform. According to the Sustainable Development Policy Institute, Pakistan's school textbooks have systematically inculcated anti-Indian discrimination through historical omissions and deliberate misinformation since the 1970s.

Wajahat Masood is a Pakistani journalist, columnist and political analyst. He is widely considered to be a liberal, and a human rights activist. He is currently working with the Urdu-language newspaper Daily Jang. He has earlier worked with BBC and other organisations. He is currently the chief editor of humsub Urdu & humsub English

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Rabiya Javeri Agha</span> British Pakistani journalist and civil servant (born 1963)

Rabiya Javeri Agha is the Chairperson of the National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) in Pakistan, and a retired civil servant officer who served in the Government of Pakistan in BPS-22 grade as Federal Secretary. She was the first unanimously elected female President of the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) Officers Association, and she has had an extensive career ranging from human rights, women's development, sustainable tourism, energy, finance and trade.

Women Democratic Front (WDF) is an independent socialist-feminist organization based in Pakistan. It was founded in the federal capital Islamabad on March 8, 2018, by hundreds of delegates from Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

The Aurat Azadi March was started in 2018 in Pakistan by members of Women Democratic Front, other organizations like Women's Action Forum, Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls alliance, Young Teachers Association, Home-Based Women Workers Union, Awami Workers Party, Awami Jamhoori Party also joined the march on International Women's Day in Islamabad. Aurat Azadi March and Aurat March are organized by different groups of women since 2018. Aurat Azadi March is organized by group of socialist feminists whereas Aurat March is organized by group of liberal feminists. Aurat March was also started the same year by the group of individual women known as "Hum Aurtein" collective in Karachi and Lahore.

Tanveer Jahan is a Pakistani human rights defender and trainer. Jahan has been associated with the social development sector in Pakistan for over 35 years. She serves as Executive Director at the Democratic Commission for Human Development, and as National Coordinator of the Pakistan Human Rights Defenders Network. She has served as a member at the National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW).

The Punjab Commission on Status of Women (PCSW) is a human rights institution in Pakistan, which was established by the Government of Punjab in March 2014 under the PCSW Act, 2014. Its mandate is to work for the empowerment of women, expansion of opportunities for socio-economic development of women, and elimination of all forms of discrimination against women.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Rubina Feroze Bhatti</span> Human rights activist

Rubina Feroze Bhatti is a Pakistani human rights activist, peace activist and leadership consultant. She is a former member on the country's National Commission on the Rights of Child where she represented Punjab province. She is currently serving as an assistant professor at Pakistan Global Institute and a visiting fellow at Stanford University.

Shirkat Gah women's resource centre, is a women's rights organization in Pakistan which focuses on research, publications and advocacy on women's issues.

National Rahmatul-lil-Alameen Wa Khatam an-Nabiyyin Authority is an ideological institution of the Government of Pakistan. Set up under the Federal Ministry of Education & Professional Training by the former Prime Minister Imran Khan in October 2021, the first Chairman was Ijaz Akram. The ordinance to set up the authority was promulgated by President Arif Alvi on 13 October 2021. In July 2022, JUI-F former MNA Shahida Akhtar Ali suggest the new name of the authority by adding Khatam an-Nabiyyin, which was endorsed by President of Pakistan, Arif Alvi per suggestion as National Rahmatul-lil-Alameen Wa Khatam an-Nabiyyin Authority formerly National Rahmatul-lil-Alameen Authority.

Progressive Students Federation (PrSF) is a left-wing socialist students’ organisation based in Pakistan. PrSF was formed in 2014 in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa but was later joined various factions of National Students Federation in Punjab and Sindh. The organisation has mobilised students and youth all over Pakistan for democratisation of campuses, restoration of student unions and universal education.
