Chaams (born as Swaminathan: 30 November 1972) is an Indian actor and comedian who has appeared in Tamil language films. He has predominantly appeared in supporting roles, [1] notably in Crazy Mohan dramas and playing one of the several leads in Palaivana Solai (2009) and Onbadhule Guru (2013).
He is an actor who began his career by doing small roles but later bagged meaningful roles and had received mass appreciation for his performances. Right from the beginning he started a new style of comedy that people loved and then he followed it with every film. He used his natural tone and local style to deliver dialogues with timing and sense of humor.
In the year 2009, a film named Palaivana Solai was released which was a remake version of the same film released in 1981 where a love story of five friends woven around one simple girl received critics appreciation. In the 2009 flick, Chaams had played the lead role as one of the five friends. This position gave him maximum satisfaction till date. [2]
Chaams garnered acclaim for his role in Payanam (2011). Rediff stated that a "special mention must be made of Chaams" as he provided "excellent comic relief". [3] The Hindu stated that "Chaams as the doting fan whose blinkers fall off" is "a riot". [4]
Similarly in the year 2013, another film Onbadhule Guru was released, where he played the role of disgruntled married man who wants to go back to his bachelor days along with his other friends. The film needed all leading actors to do comedy as per the script and actor Chaams appeared as Guru.
He has appeared in some Tamil films in 2015, and most of the films have been received well by audiences. He was part of films like Maanga and 49-O . Earlier, he was acting with comedians like Vadivelu and Goundamani and supported in their comedy roles.
In 2021, Chaams played the lead role in the film Operation JuJuPi as a serious man. [5]

Jayaram Subramaniam,, is an Indian actor who works predominantly in Malayalam cinema, in addition to Tamil and Telugu language films. He is also a chenda percussionist, mimicry artist, and occasional playback singer. Jayaram has acted in more than 200 films and received several awards, including the Padma Shri, two Kerala State Film Awards, one Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, and four Filmfare Awards South.
Nagesh (born Cheyur Krishnarao Nageshwaran; was an Indian actor and comedian mostly remembered for his comic roles in Tamil films during the 1960s. Nagesh was born in Dharapuram. He acted in over 1,000 films from 1958 to 2008, performing in a variety of roles as comedian, lead roles, supporting actor and antagonist. He has also acted in Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and Kannada films. Nagesh's style of comedy was largely inspired by Hollywood actor Jerry Lewis. Similarities between Nagesh and Lewis earned Nagesh the sobriquet the "Jerry Lewis of India". He was also nicknamed as the King of Comedy due to his impeccable comedy timing and body language. He featured regularly in the film projects of M. G. Ramachandran and Sivaji Ganesan even at a time when there was a massive rift between the two leading actors in Tamil cinema at that time.

Ramesh Choudary, also known by his stage name Jithan Ramesh, is an Indian actor and film producer who works in Tamil cinema. He is the son of film producer R. B. Choudary and elder brother of actor Jiiva. He made his breakthrough with the thriller film Githan (2005) and has continued to appear in lead roles.
Mohan Rangachari known professionally as Crazy Mohan, was an Indian actor, comedian, screenwriter and playwright. An engineer by profession, Mohan started writing plays and established his own drama troupe called "Crazy Creations" in 1979. In addition to dramas and tele-serials, Mohan worked as a dialogue writer on a number of comedy films. Mohan had written over 30 plays, worked on over 40 films, having cameo roles in each film, and written 100 short stories. The Tamil Nadu state government in the year 2004, awarded him the Kalaimamani title for excellence in the field of arts and literature.

Palaivana Solai (transl. Oasis) is a 2009 Indian Tamil-language buddy drama film starring Nithin Sathya, Karthika Mathew, Sanjeev, Abhinay, Sathyan and Chaams. It is a remake of the 1981 Tamil film of the same name. The film failed to replicate the success of original film.

Palaivana Solai ( transl. Oasis) is a 1981 Indian Tamil-language buddy drama film written, directed and photographed by the duo Robert–Rajasekar in their directorial debut. The film stars Chandrasekhar, Janagaraj, Rajeev, Kailash Nath, Thyagu and Suhasini. It revolves around five friends whose lives are transformed by a new girl arriving in their locality.
