Champions of Magic is a touring illusion show featuring a cast of five magicians, each specializing in a different type of magic from mind reading & close-up to stage filling grand illusions. [1] [2] [3] [4]

History

Champions of Magic opened in the UK in October 2013 at Reading Hexagon Theatre [5] and has since completed 6 UK tours and a run in London. [6] The show completed a US tour in 2017 which was extended due to demand, concluding in March 2018. This included an extended run at the Palace Theatre in Cleveland, Ohio. To date the show has been seen by over 300,000 people [7] and received positive reviews. [8] [9] [10]

Cast

The show regularly features illusionists Young & Strange, acclaimed [11] mind reader Alex McAleer, escapologist Fernando Velasco, and British-born Las Vegas magician Hollie England.

They have a number of onstage assistants alongside an aerialist.

Performance

The production features mostly original magic that was created or devised by the performers and production designers. The show is known for its production including a large lighting rig and pyrotechnic effects. [12] [13]

Charity

As part of their 2016 and 2018 UK tour the production held a performance exclusively for children from UK charity Rays of Sunshine at the Mermaid Theatre in London. [14]

When touring they also support Tickets For Troops [15] who provide free tickets to members of the armed forces and their families and Tickets For Kids which provides free tickets to disadvantaged children.

Barry Jones and Stuart MacLeod are a duo of Scottish BAFTA-nominated magicians and comedians whose work has been seen on television and on stage around the world. Chris Cox is a mentalist magician – a self-proclaimed "mind reader who can't read minds". On television he stars in "Chris Cox's Mind Blowing Magic" on CBBC & BBC iPlayer and is "The Geek" in the award-winning Killer Magic on BBC Three. He is the only mind reader in history to have played Broadway, London's West End, The Kennedy Centre and Sydney Opera House. He stars in touring stage show The Illusionists and in the West End in Impossible. In his radio career Chris was the writer and producer for Matt Edmondson on BBC Radio 1; the assistant producer on The Chris Moyles Show.

Peter "Pete" Firman is an English magician, comedian, television presenter and actor.

Jason Latimer, known by the stage name LATIMER, is an American illusionist. In 2003, he became one of four Americans ever to win the title Grand Prix "Best Overall" at the World Championships of Magic. In 2012, Latimer starred in the six live British television specials on the BBC One's "The Magicians," and won UK competition overall. In 2014, Latimer joined Penn & Teller and Christen Gerhart as a judge on the American magic competition television series Wizard Wars on the Syfy channel. In 2015, Latimer launched the Impossible Science program in San Diego, CA. Currently, Latimer is the curator of Impossible Science for the Fleet Science Center and oversees the Impossible Science Initiative in science centers throughout Southern California. Rob Lake is an American magician and illusionist known for his original grand illusions and elaborate theatrical interactive performances. Rob Lake was a quarter-finalist on America's Got Talent in 2018. Rob has performed his illusion shows all over the US, Japan, Australia, Europe, Guam, and Thailand. He currently performs his show on television, in casinos, and theaters around the world.

Jamie Allan is an English-based magician. He is known for the fusion of magic and technology. Jamie Allan performs modern illusions with iPads, Laser Beams, Facebook and Twitter. He has appeared on various TV shows and has worked alongside various other entertainers and performers and designed illusions and effects for them. He has also worked in many aspects of the entertainment industry, as performer, producer, writer and director. He is Creator and Co-Writer of the musical Houdini.

The Illusionists is a touring magic production which features a rotating cast of 5 to 8 magicians who all specialise in specific branches of magic from stage illusions to mind reading to escapology and comedic magic.

Impossible is a magic and illusion show which received its world premiere in London's West End at the Noël Coward Theatre on 24 July 2015. The production features a line-up of magicians who each specialise in different magical disciplines, supported by a team of assistants. The show was created by producer Jamie Hendry and directed by Lloyd Wood and Anthony Owen with original music by Ryan Martin and Michael Bradley.

Benjamin Hart is an English magician. In 2007, he was awarded the "Young Magician of the Year" award by The Magic Circle. Hart has worked on British television and is an inventor and designer of magic tricks and stage illusions. In 2014, he starred in Killer Magic on BBC Three. Hart was a finalist on Britain's Got Talent in 2019. He is a member of The Magic Circle (organisation)

Young & Strange are a British comedy magic double act. The duo perform on stages around the world with a magic, comedy and illusion show and currently headline the touring production of Champions of Magic which frequently tours theatres in North America.

Alex McAleer is a British mentalist who has toured extensively throughout the UK and North America with the ensemble illusion show Champions of Magic.

Keelan Leyser is a British-born magician, mentalist and quick change artist, who is known for his multiple television appearances spanning over 25 years. He is recognised for his magic with digital technology and his quick change act.
