Chanchisoa (English: Expectation) is a 2024 Garo short film directed by Elvachisa Ch. Sangma and Dipankar Das. ^{[1] [2]} It was premiered in the Indian Panorama section at the 55th International Film Festival of India. ^{[3] [4]} The film was screened at the 18th Mumbai International Film Festival. ^[5] It was also showcased at the 2nd Eikhoigi Imphal International Film Festival in the North-East Currents strand. ^[6]

Synopsis

The film is set in the Garo hills of northeastern India, which is a matrilineal society. It depicts the financial struggles of a family. The mother works tirelessly but feels unsatisfied. Also, the father's endeavours to better their situation meet continuous setbacks. Their son, meanwhile, harbors ambitions of studying beyond their village. ^[7]
