Chaouki Tanios Abdallah is a Lebanese-American engineer and academic administrator who currently serves as the 10th President of the Lebanese American University.
Abdallah was born and raised in Lebanon. He began his education at the Saint Joseph University before earning a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Youngstown State University. Abdallah earned a Master of Science and PhD in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech. [1]
Abdallah was active in designing international graduate programs with Latin American and European countries. In 1990,he co-founded the Ibero-American Science and Technology Education Consortium (ISTEC),which includes more than 150 universities in Latin America,Spain and the United States. [1]
Abdallah's teaching and research speciality is systems theory,particularly related to robotic control and communications systems. He is a recipient of the Millennium Medal of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. [1] He has published more than 300 peer-reviewed papers and seven books,including Robot Manipulator Control:Theory and Practice (2003,with Lewis and Dawson). [2]
He joined UNM's Electrical and Computer Engineering department,chairing the department between 2005 and 2011. He served as provost of the UNM between 2011 and 2016,after which he became president from 2017 to 2018,initially in an acting capacity. [3] Abdallah left the University of New Mexico to serve as executive vice president for research at Georgia Tech. [4] Abdallah left Georgia Tech in September 2024 to take up the post of president of the Lebanese American University on 1 October 2024. [5]

The Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines (IRIM@GT) is an interdisciplinary research unit at the Georgia Institute of Technology. The center was launched May,2006,and consists of researchers from the School of Interactive Computing in the College of Computing,College of Engineering,and Georgia Tech Research Institute. IRIM@GT currently offers a Ph.D. program in robotics,the first truly multi-disciplinary program in the country after the one of Carnegie Mellon University.
Ayanna MacCalla Howard is an American roboticist,entrepreneur and educator currently serving as the dean of the College of Engineering at Ohio State University. Assuming the post in March 2021,Howard became the first woman to lead the Ohio State College of Engineering.
Magnus B. Egerstedt is a Swedish-American roboticist who is the Dean of the Henry Samueli School of Engineering at the University of California,Irvine. He was formerly the Steve C. Chaddick School Chair and Professor at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering,Georgia Institute of Technology.
Michel George Malti was an American electrical engineer,known for his work in circuit analysis. He was born in Deir el Qamar,in modern-day Lebanon and died in Miami,Florida. He graduated from the Syrian Protestant college (1915) and from Georgia Tech (1922),before joining Cornell University as an instructor and student,earning a M.Sc. (1924) and Ph.D. (1927),all degrees in electrical engineering.
Seth A. Hutchinson is an American electrical and computer engineer. He is the Executive Director of the Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines at the Georgia Institute of Technology,where he is also Professor and KUKA Chair for Robotics in the School of Interactive Computing. His research in robotics spans the areas of planning,sensing,and control. He has published widely on these topics,and is coauthor of the books "Robot Modeling and Control," published by Wiley,Principles of Robot Motion - Theory,Algorithms,and Implementations,with Howie Choset,Kevin M. Lynch,George Kantor,Wolfram Burgard,Lydia E. Kavraki and Sebastian Thrun.
Mark W. Spong is an American roboticist. He is a professor of systems engineering and electrical and computer engineering in the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering &Computer Science at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD). He served as dean of the Jonsson School and the Lars Magnus Ericsson Chair in Electrical Engineering from 2008 to 2017. Before he joined UTD,he was the Donald Biggar Willett Professor of Engineering,professor of electrical engineering,research professor of Coordinated Science Laboratory and Information Trust Institute,and director of Center for Autonomous Engineering Systems and Robotics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Stephen Edward Cross is the executive vice president for research (EVPR) at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech),a position to which he was appointed in 2010. Henry Clark Bourne Jr. was an electrical engineer,administrator and faculty member at the Georgia Institute of Technology from 1981 until 1993. He was initially recruited by Georgia Tech president Joseph M. Pettit to be Georgia Tech's vice president of academic affairs;Bourne focused on faculty recruitment. Bourne would later serve as Georgia Tech's interim president after Pettit died of cancer in 1986.

Abdallah Ougazzaden is a professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology and President of Georgia Tech Europe,the European campus of Georgia Tech. He is the co-founder and co-president of Institut Lafayette,an innovation platform in advanced semiconductor materials/devices. In addition,he previously served for 3 terms as Director of the joint international lab UMI between Georgia Tech and the French CNRS. Ougazzaden's specific research areas of expertise cover the fields of semiconductor materials,photonics,and optoelectronics. He has published over 450 papers and generated 26 patents in these areas.
Raheem Beyah is an American computer engineer,researcher,and educator. As of January 15,2021 he is the Dean of the College of Engineering and Southern Company Chair at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Prior to becoming the Dean,he was the vice president for Interdisciplinary Research and the Motorola Foundation Professor and the executive director of Georgia Tech's online masters in cyber security program. Beyah is also the co-founder and chair of industrial security company Fortiphyd Logic,Inc.

She is co-director of the Rose Building Undergraduate Diversity (ROSE-BUD) program. She is a co-founder of Black In Engineering and a co-founder of Black In Robotics.
Frank L. Lewis is an American electrical engineer,academic and researcher. He is a professor of electrical engineering,Moncrief-O’Donnell Endowed Chair,and head of Advanced Controls and Sensors Group at The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). He is a member of UTA Academy of Distinguished Teachers and a charter member of UTA Academy of Distinguished Scholars.
Edl Schamiloglu is an American physicist,electrical engineer,pulsed power expert,inventor,and distinguished professor in the department of electrical and computer engineering at the University of New Mexico. He has been known in public media for his expertise in the design and operation of directed-energy weapons. He is also known for his assessment on the possible origins of alleged health damages presumably caused on U.S. embassy personnel in Cuba in 2016 as part of the Havana syndrome incident. He is the associate dean for research and innovation at the UNM School of Engineering,where he has been a faculty since 1988,and where he is also special assistant to the provost for laboratory relations. He is also the founding director of the recently launched UNM Directed Energy Center. Schamiloglu is a book author and co-editor,and has received numerous awards for his academic achievements. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the American Physical Society. Starting on July 1,2024,Schamiloglu was selected as Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science,where he succeeds Steven J. Gitomer who has held that role for over 40 years.
