Charles & Co. is a global interior design firm, with offices in both New York and Los Angeles, USA. It was founded in 2016 by Vicky Charles and Julia Corden. The firm has been responsible for redesigning commercial and residential spaces.

Background

Charles & Co. was founded by Julia Corden and Vicky Charles in 2016. [1] Prior to creating Charles & Co., Charles served as Head of Design for Soho House, [2] while Corden worked in film and television. [3] Charles left her role at Soho House to start her own interior design firm, having previously worked with designers such as Ilse Crawford and Martin Brudnizki. [4] They have global clientele, and it has been reported they have a number of celebrity clients. [5] [6]

In December 2018, Charles & Co. was listed on Architectural Digest 's AD100. [7] A year later, The Hollywood Reporter listed the company as one of the top interior design firms in Los Angeles. [8] They have also been listed in the AD100 list in 2020 and 2021. [9]

Founders

Vicky Charles is a co-founder of the company. [10] She was also listed as one of Architectural Digest's top 100 designers in 2019 and 2020. [11]

Julia, (née Carey), a British businesswoman, is also a co-founder and CEO of the company. [12] She is married to late night talk show host James Corden and lives in Los Angeles with her husband and three children.

Emily Summers, is an American interior designer. She is president and CEO of Emily Summers Design Associates. Beginning her design career in 1979, she became known for her collaboration with architects and artists along with the collection, commission, and architectural installation of fine art into projects. Francis Sultana is a Maltese-born furniture and interior designer. He is regularly featured in the annual AD100 list compiled by Architectural Digest. The Times says he is "a furniture designer and decorating mastermind" and also mentions his famous clients. Financial TimesHow To Spend It magazine said "his baroque-meets-pop art style is making grand statements in an ever-widening circle of homes." Living Etc magazine describes Sultana's style as "luxurious, bespoke-driven and sumptuous". In 2018 Sultana was made Ambassador of Culture for Malta. He was named as one of the Top 20 interior designers by Wallpaper magazine and Top 100 Interior Designers by House & Garden magazine. The Financial Times said of his first hotel project La Palma Hotel, Capri for Oetker Collection that it is "a glamorous new start for Capri's oldest hotel ". In 2021 Sultana became custodian of The Hunting Lodge, the former home of British interior designers John Fowler and Nicky Haslam. ". As well as running his own atelier, Sultana is also CEO of David Gill Gallery ".

Ike Kligerman Barkley was an American architectural firm established in 1989, with offices in New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area. The practice was led by partners and founders John Ike and Thomas A. Kligerman, and Joel Barkley, who joined as a partner in 1999. The firm designed buildings across the United States and elsewhere, and is most known for residences characterized by an eclectic approach to historical precedent, style, materials and client tastes than for a single aesthetic. Adam Charlap Hyman is an American designer and artist. He is the co-founder and partner of Charlap Hyman & Herrero, an architecture and design firm based out of New York City and Los Angeles. His grandfather is pianist and composer Dick Hyman.
