Charles Elbert Scoggins (1888-1955) was an American writer who specialized in adventure stories set in Central America.
Two of his stories were filmed by Hollywood; Untamed in 1929 and Tycoon , first serialized in the Saturday Evening Post in 1932 was filmed with John Wayne in 1947.

The Bali Holocaust Conference was held on June 12, 2007 in Jimbaran, Bali, Indonesia. The conference aimed to promote religious tolerance and affirm the reality of the Holocaust and was attended by rabbis, Holocaust witnesses, and Muslim leaders, teachers and students. This event was convened by former Indonesian president Abdurrahman Wahid, and was sponsored by the Wahid Institute, the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles, and the Libforall Foundation. Wahid stated that although he is a good friend of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, his views about the Holocaust are wrong and that it really happened.

Margaret Clara Scoggin was one of the first librarians to expand dramatically upon the idea of young adult public librarianship. Scoggin implemented several programs throughout her career at the New York Public Library that placed intense importance on young adult readers, which ultimately inspired the ever-improving teen librarianship seen today. She said of young adults, “They are a vital force which the library can both develop and use. They are the voters of tomorrow, the potential adult users and supporters of the public library, the emergent community to whom, theoretically, the public library belongs.” In 1999, American Libraries named her one of the "100 Most Important Leaders We Had in the 20th Century".

Timothy Tau is a Taiwanese-American writer, engineer, attorney, law professor and filmmaker. Tau won the 2011 Hyphen Asian American Writers' Workshop Short Story Contest for his short story, "The Understudy", which was published in the Winter 2011 issue of Hyphen magazine, Issue No. 24, the "Survival Issue." Tau also won Second Prize in the 2010 Playboy College Fiction Contest for his short story, "Land of Origin". He has also directed a number of short films and music videos that have screened at various film festivals worldwide and on YouTube.
Tatiana Niculescu is a Romanian writer and former senior editor of the Bucharest Romanian Bureau of the BBC WS. She previously worked for almost 10 years as a radio presenter and producer of the World Service in London. Her non fiction novel Deadly Confession was published in 2006 by Humanitas Publishing House. It was followed by Judges’ Book. A second edition and e-book of Deadly Confession were issued by Polirom Publishing House in 2012. The novels caused a sensation in her native country and inspired the film director Cristian Mungiu who produced and directed the film Beyond the Hills based on the same novels. The film won the award for the best screenplay at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. In 2007 a stage version of the books directed by the American-Romanian director Andrei Serban had been performed at La MaMa Theatre in New York. In 2008, the theatre performance was staged in Paris at the Béhague Palace. Peter Brook and Pascal Bruckner attended the performance.
