Charlie Ward (born 19 February 1995) is an English footballer who plays as a midfielder for USL Championship side Oklahoma City Energy.

Career

Youth

Ward played with the youth teams of both Aston Villa [1] and Stoke City. [2]

Professional

Ward signed with USL side Rio Grande Valley on 29 January 2016. [3] On 19 July 2016, Ward signed a short-term loan deal with the Toros' MLS affiliate side Houston Dynamo, so he could compete for them in their upcoming Lamar Hunt Open Cup fixture against FC Dallas. [4]

Ward joined Houston permanently on 1 July 2017. [5] He was waived by Houston on 9 May 2018. [6] He was signed by the USL's San Antonio on 8 June 2018. [7]

Ward signed with Ottawa Fury FC on 18 January 2019.

Following Ottawa's decision to fold ahead of the 2020 season, Ward moved to fellow USL Championship side Oklahoma City Energy on 14 January 2020. [8]

Copa Tejas is the two cup competitions and one shield between the Major League Soccer, USL Championship and NWSL teams of the state of Texas, awarded by independent supporters groups of the state's teams. It was initially founded in 2019 by supporters of San Antonio FC. It awards a Division 1 trophy for the top Major League Soccer team, a Division 2 trophy for the top USL Championship team, and the Copa Tejas Shield for the best team across all participants. The current Major League Soccer clubs are Austin FC, FC Dallas, and Houston Dynamo FC. The USL Championship clubs are El Paso Locomotive FC, Rio Grande Valley FC, and San Antonio FC. The 2020 San Antonio FC season was the club's fifth season of existence.
