Charlotte A. Adams (later Charlotte A. Cunningham) (born 1859) was an Australian mountain climber. She became the first woman of European descent to climb to the peak of Mount Kosciuszko in February 1881, aged 21. [1]
In February 1881, Adams accompanied her father, Philip Francis Adams, [2] on a surveying trip to the Cooma district. On the trip, she climbed to the Peak of Mount Kosciuszko, becoming the first known European woman to have made the climb. [1]
Adams married Herbert Norfolk Cunningham on 19 April 1882. [3]

The Snowy Mountains, known informally as "The Snowies", is an IBRA subregion in southern New South Wales, Australia, and is the tallest mountain range in mainland Australia, being part of the continent's Great Dividing Range cordillera system. It makes up the northeastern half of the Australian Alps and contains Australia's five tallest peaks, all of which are above 2,100 m (6,890 ft), including the tallest Mount Kosciuszko, which reaches to a height of 2,228 m (7,310 ft) above sea level. The offshore Tasmanian highlands makes up the only other major alpine region present in the whole of Australia.

Annie Smith Peck was an American mountaineer and adventurer. The northern peak of the Peruvian Cordillera Blanca mountain chain, Huascarán was named Cumbre Aña Peck in Peck's honor. She was an ardent suffragist and noted speaker. She lectured extensively for many years throughout the world, and wrote four books encouraging travel and exploration.
Yowie is one of several names for an Australian folklore entity that is reputed to live in the Outback. The creature has its roots in Aboriginal oral history. In parts of Queensland, they are known as quinkin, and as joogabinna, in parts of New South Wales they are called Ghindaring, jurrawarra, myngawin, puttikan, doolaga, gulaga and thoolagal. Emmeline Freda Du Faur was an Australian mountaineer, credited as the first woman to climb New Zealand's tallest mountain, Aoraki / Mount Cook. Du Faur was a leading amateur climber of her day. She was the first female high mountaineer known to be active in New Zealand, although she never lived there.
Kit DesLauriers is an American ski-mountaineer who was the first person to ski down the Seven Summits. Her ski-mountaineering feats earned her a National Geographic Adventurer of the Year award in 2015. She was the first woman to have won two consecutive World Freeskiing Champion titles, in 2004 and 2005.
Anna Czerwińska was a Polish climber. She is known for being the oldest woman to summit Mount Everest at the age of 50. She also published several books about mountaineering.
Kalpana Dash was an Indian lawyer and mountaineer. She was the first Odia mountaineer to scale Mount Everest. She scaled Mount Everest on 21 May 2008, along with a team of five members from the United States, Canada and Nepal.
