Charlotte Margiono (born March 24, 1955) is a Dutch operatic soprano.
Margiono (real name Charlotte Marie-Louise Heijdemann) was born in Amsterdam and studied at the Arnhem conservatoire with Aafje Heynis. She was originally a Mozart specialist, but gradually added a handful of heavier operas by Beethoven, Carl Maria von Weber, Verdi, Smetana, Puccini and Richard Strauss to her repertoire.
She has appeared in opera houses all over the world. After her international successes, she sang three lyric Wagner roles at the Netherlands Opera: Eva in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg (2000), Elsa in Lohengrin (2002), and Sieglinde in Die Walküre (2004). She returned to Mozart for the controversial 2006-07 Netherlands Opera Da Ponte trilogy by Jossi Wieler and Sergio Morabito as Marcellina ( Le nozze di Figaro ), and Donna Elvira ( Don Giovanni ).
In 2008, she unexpectedly gave up opera, to better concentrate on Lieder, and on her concert work.
Margiono is famous for her interpretation of the Four Last Songs by Richard Strauss, which she recorded in 1993 with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra under Edo de Waart (Brilliant Classics).
Her beautiful voice is used intelligently, and with great artistry. She is a fine actress as well. [1]
In 1998 she founded the Margiono Quintet, consisting of members of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
In December 2008 the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht appointed Charlotte Margiono as a lecturer in "Communicating Music."

Pauline Maria de Ahna (also known as Pauline Strauss was a German operatic soprano and the wife of composer Richard Strauss. Her singing career was closely tied to her husband's career as a conductor and composer. From 1890-1894 she was committed to the Staatskapelle Weimar and from 1894-1897 she was committed to the Bavarian State Opera, during which times her husband was the principal conductor of those theaters. She also sang under her husband's baton at the Bayreuth Festival and in the world premiere of his first opera Guntram. Other houses at which performed included the Berlin State Opera, La Monnaie, and the Liceu. Her repertoire included leading roles in the operas of Beethoven, Humperdinck, Mozart, von Weber, and Wagner. After she gave birth to their son, Franz Strauss in 1897, she retired from the opera stage. She thereafter continued to periodically perform in concerts of her husband's music, particularly lieder. Strauss credited her as his muse for many of his compositions, including the title role in Salome, the Countess Madeleine in Capriccio, and the Four Last Songs among others.
Susan Gritton is an English operatic soprano. She was the 1994 winner of the Kathleen Ferrier Award and has sung leading roles in a wide-ranging repertoire from Handel and Mozart to Britten, Janáček and Strauss.
Diana Damrau is a German soprano. She has been successful in coloratura soprano roles, especially admired as the Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute and Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos. She has gradually proceeded into 19th-century Italian bel canto repertoire, singing roles such as Violetta in La traviata and the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor. Damrau is also known as a lieder singer.

Sophie Koch is a French operatic mezzo-soprano who made an international career, performing Rosina in Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Royal Opera House, the Composer in Ariadne auf Naxos by Richard Strauss at the Semperoper in Dresden, and Charlotte in Massenet's Werther at the Paris Opera, among others.
