Chaudhary Lal Singh (born 2 February 1959) is an Indian politician from Jammu and Kashmir. He was Minister for Forest,Environment,Ecology of J&K in PDP-BJP coalition government in J&K. [4] He represented the Basohli in Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
He was Founder Chairman and his wife Smt. Kanta Andotra (Ex.MLA) is President of the Dogra Swabhimaan Sangathan Party.
Singh started his political career as a student leader. He was elected as MLA from Basholi constituency in 1996 J&K Assembly elections. He was re-elected as MLA from Basohli constituency in the 2002 J&K Assembly Elections. He was inducted into the state cabinet as Minister for Health and Medical Education in Congress-PDP coalition government. After that he was elected as MP in 14th Lok Sabha in 2004 from Udhampur constituency. He was again elected as MP from there in the 15th Lok Sabha in 2009. [5]
In August 2014,Singh parted ways with Congress after being denied ticket as Congress candidate during 16th Lok Sabha elections. He formally joined Bhartiya Janata Party in presence of BJP President Amit Shah at a function in Kathua. [6] He resigned as cabinet minister in 2018 and left BJP. Later,formed his own party "Dogra Swabhimaan Sangathan Party". [7]
On 20th March 2024 he joined Indian National Congress.

In 2018 he was accused of supporting of the accused rapists in the Kathua Rape and Murder case. [10] Singh defended his attendance at the rally,stating that he was there to "defuse the situation". Nonetheless,Singh resigned as a result of the controversy. [11] He stood by his demand of CBI enquiry for justice to the victim and held large rallies for this demand [12]
Mehbooba Mufti is an Indian politician of the PDP,who served as the 9th Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir from 4 April 2016 to 19 June 2018. She was the first Female CM of J&K. After the revocation of the special status (autonomy) of the state in August 2019,Mufti was detained without any charges at first and later under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act. She was released only in October 2020,after the Supreme Court of India quizzed the government about the length of her detention.
The Jammu &Kashmir National Panthers Party is a socialist and secular state political party in the state of Jammu and Kashmir,India. The party was founded on 23 March 1982 by husband and wife couple Prof. Bhim Singh and Jay Mala,Its aim is to "demolish corruption,communalism,criminalization,drug menace" and to establish a real democracy through ultimate revolution. Panthers party has maintained power at assembly and local level for over four decades in its stronghold within the mountainous Udhampur constituency,where in the vicinity 5.9 million tonnes of lithium,the 7th largest known reserve in the world,with an estimated value of $500 billion,was discovered in February 2023.
Although India is a parliamentary democracy,the country's politics has become dynastic or with high level of nepotism,possibly due to the absence of party organizations,independent civil-society associations which mobilize support for a party,or centralized financing of elections. The dynastic phenomenon is present at the national,state,regional,and district level. The Nehru–Gandhi family has produced three Indian prime ministers,and family members have largely led the Congress party since 1978. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also has several dynastic leaders. Kuldeep Bishnoi is an Indian politician and a member of Bharatiya Janata Party. He served as fourth-time member of Haryana Legislative Assembly from Adampur in the Hisar (city) of Haryana. He was also a member of Congress Central Working Committee (CWC). Earlier in 2007,Bishnoi had founded a new party,Haryana Janhit Congress,a breakaway faction of Indian National Congress.

Elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir are conducted in accordance with the Constitution of India to elect the representatives of various bodies at national,state and district levels including the 114 seat unicameral Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and the Parliament of India. YuvrajVikramaditya Singh is an Indian businessman and politician. He was a leader of Indian National Congress (INC) and an ex-member of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council. The Kathua rape case involved the abduction,gang rape,and murder of an 8-year-old Muslim girl,Asifa Bano,by seven Hindu males,six men and a juvenile,in January 2018 in the Rasana village near Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir,India. A chargesheet for the case was filed,the accused were arrested and the trial began in Kathua on 16 April 2018. The victim belonged to the nomadic Bakarwal community,and the crime was a bid to terrorise the group off Jammu. She disappeared for a week before her body was discovered by the villagers a kilometer away from the village. The incident made national news when charges were filed against eight men in April 2018. The arrests of the accused led to protests by the Panthers Party and other local groups,who sought justice for the victim. The gang rape and murder,as well as the support the accused received especially from local officials of the Bharatiya Janata party,sparked widespread outrage in India and world-wide.
Rajiv Jasrotia is an Indian politician and member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Jasrotia was a member of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly from the Kathua constituency. He headed Municipal committee of Hiranagar for four years. He was the Minister for Forest,Environment,and Ecology of Jammu and Kashmir in a PDP-BJP coalition government in for a short period of over 6 weeks until the coalition failed on 19 June 2018. He courted controversy after participating in a rally in support of the accused in the kathua rape case.
