#Checkseason is the sixth studio album by American rapper Paul Wall released by his own label Paul Wall Music on December 10, 2013. [1]
After Wall's major label contract ended he was left without a label and not knowing how to release new music. Wall also had health problems due to his morbid obesity, weighing over 320 pounds (150 kg). After trying to lose weight in a number of ways, Wall eventually undertook a surgery, commenting that it "took [him] to a whole 'nother place and it really saved [his] life." [2] After that he decided to start over his career and with the help of his friend Slim Thug created his own independent label Paul Wall Music. Wall declined several offers from other labels, in order to develop his music style and fan base. He commented: "I'm just independent; I'm just putting it out underground. Back to where it all started, back to the basics. I'm really following my brother Slim Thug's lead, what he doing now, putting his mixtape out. Taking it back to the underground." [2]
Most of #Checkseason's tracks were produced by G.Luck and BDon; other producers included Beanz N Kornbread, June James and DJ Mustard. The album had guest appearances from frequent collaborators Lil' Keke and Slim Thug, as well as rappers Kid Ink, YG and Young Dolph, among others. Paul Wall hosted a release party at Houston club Empire a day prior to the album's official release. [3]
Wall called #Checkseason a "theme project", which he made for himself and people with his lifestyle, stating that "there are no songs for girls on there, no songs for the radio, no songs for the strip club; it's just like the blueprint to make a rap record." [2]

Bernard James Freeman, known professionally as Bun B, is an American rapper. He is best known as one half of the southern rap duo UGK, a group he formed in 1987 alongside Pimp C. Aside from his work with UGK, Bun B has released five solo albums, including 2010's Trill OG, which received the rare 5-mic rating from The Source.
Paul Michael Slayton, better known by his stage name Paul Wall, is an American rapper and DJ. He has spent much of his career affiliated with Swishahouse, and has released several albums under the label and collaborated with numerous other rappers signed to the label. He began his career performing alongside fellow Houstonian Chamillionaire, with whom he released several albums, including 2002's independently released Get Ya Mind Correct. By 2005, he was signed to Atlantic Records and became successful with his major label debut The Peoples Champ, which was followed up by Get Money, Stay True followed in 2007. He has been nominated for one Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance as a Duo or Group for the song "Grillz", his collaboration with rapper Nelly.
Devin Derico Copeland, better known by his stage name Devin the Dude, is an American rapper known for his unique rapping style and his 2002 songs "Lacville '79" and "Doobie Ashtray".
Stayve Jerome Thomas, better known by his stage name Slim Thug, is an American rapper from Houston, Texas. He gained mainstream attention for his guest performance alongside Paul Wall on Mike Jones' 2004 single "Still Tippin'." The following year, he guest appeared alongside Bun B on Beyoncé's 2005 single "Check on It," which peaked atop the Billboard Hot 100 and won an MTV Music Video Award. Capitalizing on this, he signed with Interscope Geffen A&M and the Neptunes' Star Trak Entertainment to release his debut studio album Already Platinum (2005), which peaked at number two on the Billboard 200. Furthermore, he guest appeared on Gwen Stefani's 2005 single "Luxurious," which peaked at number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Hakeem Temidayo Seriki, better known by his stage name Chamillionaire, is an American rapper. He began his solo career with locally-tailored releases in the early 2000s, including the collaborative album Get Ya Mind Correct (2002) with fellow Houston rapper and childhood friend Paul Wall. He signed with Universal Records in 2005 to release his debut studio album, The Sound of Revenge in November of that year. It included the singles "Ridin'" —which peaked atop the Billboard Hot 100 and won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group—and "Turn It Up". His second album, Ultimate Victory (2007) was met with similar commercial success; it became notable for its lack of profanity and lead single "Hip Hop Police" —as well as its accompanying music video. His pop rap-influenced 2009 single, "Good Morning" peaked within the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 was intended for inclusion on his third album Venom, which was never released.
Jay Wayne Jenkins, known by his stage name Jeezy, is an American rapper. He is credited, alongside fellow Georgia-based rappers T.I. and Gucci Mane, with pioneering the hip hop subgenre trap music for mainstream audiences. Jenkins began his career in 2001, releasing two independent albums until signing with Def Jam Recordings to release his major label debut, Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101 (2005). The album debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, sold 172,000 copies in its first week, and received double platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The album also spawned his highest-charting single as a lead artist to date: "Soul Survivor", which peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100.

"Still Tippin" is the debut single by American rapper Mike Jones, released on November 12, 2004 as his debut and lead single from his album Who Is Mike Jones? (2005). Prior to this, it was also used as a single to promote Swisha House's compilation album, The Day Hell Broke Loose 2 (2003). The song features vocals from rappers Slim Thug and Paul Wall, the latter in his first single appearance.

"Still Tippin'" and "Back Then" acted as singles for his debut studio album Who Is Mike Jones?, released on April 19, 2005, which peaked at number 3 on the US Billboard 200 and is certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
Deep, also known as Deep Cold or Deep Da 1, was an American Southern rap artist of Indian origin from Houston, Texas. Raised in the city, Deep attended the same high school as Paul Wall and Chamillionaire. His first interest in music came at a young age when a tight family household income made him seek other avenues of making money.
Boss of All Bosses is the second studio album by American rapper Slim Thug. It was released through his Boss Hogg Outlawz label, distributed by E1 Music, on March 24, 2009. The album features guest appearances from Mannie Fresh, Z-Ro, Mike Jones, Scarface, and UGK, while the production on the album was primarily handled by Mr. Lee, along with several record producers, including Jim Jonsin, Mr. Rogers, and Bigg Tyme, among others.
Beauty & the Streets Vol. 1 is the debut mixtape by American singer Mya. It is her first mixtape to be released by Young Empire Music Group with distribution from Fontana Distribution on September 29, 2009. The project came to surface when Harrison felt as though she had abandoned her U.S. fan base and wanted to release music for them. The mixtape served as Harrison's second independently released project on her own label imprint Planet 9 and was created to serve the "clubs, strip clubs, whips, and bedroom" with a predominantly southern sound.

"The Main Event" is a single by southern rapper Chamillionaire. It is the second single from his cancelled studio album Venom. It features Texas rappers Slim Thug, Paul Wall and Dorrough, and was produced by Scott "CHOPS" Jung. It was later featured on his Greatest Verses mixtapes.
Ronald Rummell Coleman, better known for his stage name OG Ron C, is an American DJ, radio personality, Grammy nominated record producer, and entertainment and management company executive, who is currently signed to OVO Sound and is also an on-air DJ for KQBT 93.7 The Beat. He is the owner of the Houston-based urban music online radio station ChopNotSlop Radio, former DJ of Southern rappers Chamillionaire and Slim Thug. Along with Michael 5000 Watts, he co-founded Swishahouse Records and helped jump-start the careers of Slim Thug, Chamillionaire, Paul Wall and Mike Jones. The leader and founder of The Chopstars, he was the first Houston DJ to receive his own day when he got a proclamation from Mayor Sylvester Turner. He is most known for his F-Action Series Mixtape which features R&B songs Chopped and Screwed and to date has over 4,200 mixtapes and albums, both at regular speed and chopped and screwed speed. He has sold over 22,000,000 mixtapes and albums to date. He also is the founder of Chopnotslop Radio a 24-hour "Screwed" Radio station dedicated to DJ Screw.
Horst Christian Simco, better known by his stage name Riff Raff, is an American rapper from Katy, Texas. He was originally managed by Swishahouse co-founder OG Ron C in 2011. After initially signing with rapper Soulja Boy's record label Stacks on Deck Entertainment, Simco signed with producer Diplo's Mad Decent record label to release his debut album, Neon Icon (2014).
Tai Charles Carr, better known by his stage name Doughbeezy, is an American rapper from Houston, Texas. Active since 2010, he has released a number of mixtapes and collaborated with musicians such as Killa Kyleon, Bun B, Slim Thug, Devin The Dude, and Paul Wall. Doughbeezy won the “Best Rapper In Texas” competition three times, and in 2013 MTV Hive named him one of the "top 5 underground artists in Houston." A frequent live performer, he has toured with rappers such as Dom Kennedy, and is co-CEO of the music company Headwreckas Worldwide, along with company founder Al Hughes.

His first two albums, Savage Dreams (2001) and On Tha Cool (2002) were released independently through Dope House Records. After changing the last part of his stage name to "Bash," he released the 2003 single "Suga Suga", which peaked at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 and led to his signing of a recording contract from Universal Records. "Suga Suga" served as the lead single for his third album and major label debut, Tha Smokin' Nephew (2003).
Maurice Samuel Young, better known by his stage name Trick Daddy, is an American rapper from the Liberty City neighborhood of Miami, Florida. He is best known for his 2003 single "Let's Go", which peaked at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100. The album of which it preceded, Thug Matrimony: Married to the Streets (2004) peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 albums chart; both of which remain his most successful releases to date.
