Chelsea Stein (born 2003 or 2004) is an American wheelchair racer. As of 2024, she is the top ranked woman in the T53 100m. [1]
Stein was born in China with sacral agenesis and spina bifida, for which she underwent surgery at a young age. After spending seven years in foster care, she was adopted by American parents at age 10. Following her adoption, she lived in Spring, Texas, and attended Roth Elementary, Strack Intermediate, and Klein Collins High School. [2] [3]
As of 2024, she attends the University of Arizona, where she is studying nursing and competes on the school's track and road racing team. [2]
As a high schooler, Stein competed twice at the UIL Track and Field State Meet in the 100m and 400m wheelchair races, and in seated shot put. [4] At her second time attending the event in 2021, she won the 100m race, came second in the 400m, and fifth in shot put. [3]
Stein competed in the inaugural women's 100m wheelchair dash at the 2023 National Collegiate Wheelchair Championships. [5] She won a silver medal at the 2023 Parapan American Games in Santiago, Chile. [1]
At the 2024 Paralympic trials, Stein raced in the women's T53 events, with times of 2:13.57 in the 800m, 1:05.71 in the 400m, and 18.28 in the 100m. [6] She was named to the U.S. Paralympic team in early August 2024, after receiving an invitation from the International Paralympic Committee to fill a vacant qualification spot. [1] At the 2024 Summer Paralympics, Stein raced in the 800m and 100m T53, coming last in both finals with times of 2:11.91 and 18.30 respectively. [7] [8]

Michelle Stilwell is a Canadian athlete and politician. She represented Canada at four Summer Paralympic Games, as well as the 2015 Parapan American Games. She competed in wheelchair basketball before becoming a wheelchair racer, and is the only female Paralympic athlete to win gold medals in two separate summer sport events.

She has also won ten medals at the World Para Athletics Championships and four gold at the Commonwealth Games. De Rozario holds the world record in the Women's 800m T53 and formerly in the Women's 1500m T53/54.

Algeria competed at the 2000 Summer Paralympics in Sydney, Australia. It was the country's third participation in the Summer Paralympic Games. Its delegation consisted in six track and field athletes and two competitors in powerlifting. Sprinter Mohamed Allek, who has cerebral palsy, won all of Algeria's medals at these Games - three gold.
Marcel Eric Hug is a Paralympic athlete from Switzerland competing in category T54 wheelchair racing events. Hug, nicknamed 'The Silver Bullet', has competed in four Summer Paralympic Games for Switzerland, winning two bronze medals in his first Games in Athens in 2004. In 2010 he set four world records in four days, and at the 2011 World Championships he won a gold in the 10,000 metres and four silver medals, losing the gold in three events to long term rival David Weir. This rivalry continued into the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London, where Hug won two silvers, in the 800m and the marathon. In the 2013 World Championships Hug dominated the field, winning five golds and a silver. During the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio, Hug was one of the most consistent competitors in the T54 class, winning two golds, in the 800m and marathon, and two silvers medals, in the 1500m and 5000m.

The 2013 IPC Athletics World Championships was the biggest track and field competition for athletes with a disability since the 2012 Summer Paralympics. It was held in Lyon, France, and lasted from 20 to 28 July. Around 1,100 athletes competed, from 94 different countries. The event was held in the Stade du Rhône located at the Parc de Parilly in Vénissieux, in Lyon Metropolis.
Brent Lakatos is a Canadian wheelchair racer in the T53 classification. Lakatos has represented Canada at three Summer Paralympics, and at the 2012 Games he won three silver medals in the sprint and mid-distance events. In 2013 Lakatos reached the pinnacle of his sport when he collected four gold medals at the IPC Athletics World Championships and became world champion at his classification in the 100m, 200m and 400m events.

McKenzie Coan is an American swimmer. At the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London, she swam the 400m Freestyle in the S8 category. Coan was one of four S8 category swimmers chosen to compete for Team USA at the games. She later had her breakout games in the 2016 Summer Paralympics, where she would go on to win 3 gold medals in the category S7 50, 100, and 400M Freestyle races, with an additional silver medal in the 34-point women's 4 × 100 m Freestyle relay. In the process of getting her gold medal in the 50M Freestyle she also set a new Paralympic Record.
