Chen Yueling is now an American race walker, who became the first ever female Olympic Race walking champion in 1992 while competing for China. She was virtually tied with former Soviet, Unified Team member Alina Ivanova with 200 meters to go. Ivanova then accelerated past Chen to the finish, while Chen held form. After a short celebration, Ivanova earned a disqualification, while Chen was awarded her gold medal.

The women's 10 kilometre classical competition in cross-country skiing at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held on 10 February, at the Kuyangshu Nordic Center and Biathlon Center in Zhangjiakou. Therese Johaug of Norway became the Olympic champion, Kerttu Niskanen of Finland won the silver medal, and Krista Pärmäkoski, also of Finland, won bronze.

The men's singles competition in figure skating at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held on 8 February and 10 February, at the Capital Indoor Stadium in Haidian District of Beijing. Nathan Chen of the United States won the event, with Yuma Kagiyama of Japan taking the silver medal, and Shoma Uno, also of Japan, winning the bronze. For Chen and Kagiyama, these were their first individual Olympic medals; it was Uno's second following his silver in 2018.
