Chiharu Araki

Chiharu Araki (born March 1, 1982) is a Japanese politician who is currently serving as a member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly and as the leader of the Tomin First no Kai political party. [1]

Araki was born in Kumamoto Prefecture and graduated from the law school of Kurume University. She previously served as the secretary of Yuriko Koike, the current Governor of Tokyo. [2]

The Kōdōha or Imperial Way Faction (皇道派) was a political faction in the Imperial Japanese Army active in the 1920s and 1930s. The Kōdōha sought to establish a military government that promoted totalitarian, militaristic and aggressive expansionistic ideals, and was largely supported by junior officers. The radical Kōdōha rivaled the moderate Tōseiha for influence in the army until the February 26 Incident in 1936, when it was de facto dissolved and many supporters were disciplined or executed.

Yuriko Koike Japanese politician

Yuriko Koike is a Japanese politician who currently serves as the Governor of Tokyo. She graduated from the American University in Cairo as the top student in 1976 and was a member of the House of Representatives of Japan from 1993 until 2016, when she resigned to run in the Tokyo gubernatorial election. She also previously served as the Minister of Defense in the first cabinet of Prime Minister Shinzō Abe, but resigned in August 2007 after only 54 days in office. On 31 July 2016, Koike was elected Governor of Tokyo, becoming the metropolis's first female Governor. Koike was re-elected Governor of Tokyo on 5 July 2020 in a landslide, winning 59.7% of the vote.

The 127 members were elected in forty-two electoral districts, seven returning single members elected by first-past-the-post, and thirty-five returning multiple members under single non-transferable vote. Four districts had their magnitude adjusted in this election to match population changes.

Kibō no Tō is a conservative political party in Japan founded by Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike. Governor Koike formed the party just hours before Prime Minister Shinzō Abe declared an early 2017 general election. The party's ideology is mainly Japanese conservatism and nationalism.

2021 Japanese general election General election in Japan

General elections were held in Japan on 31 October 2021, as required by the constitution. Voting took place in all constituencies in order to elect members to the House of Representatives, the lower house of the National Diet. As the constitution requires the cabinet to resign in the first Diet session after a general election, the elections will also lead to a new election for Prime Minister in the Diet, and the appointment of a new cabinet. Me and the Cult Leader (Aganai) is a 2020 Japanese documentary film. The film is follows the director, Atsushi Sakahara, a victim of the 1995 Tokyo Subway Sarin Gas Attack, and Araki Hiroshi, a current executive member of the doomsday cult Aleph behind the attack as they travel to their hometowns in the Kyoto prefecture. It premiered at the Sheffield Doc Fest as part of its Ghosts and Apparitions strand.

The Horiemon New Party is a Japanese regional political party based in Tokyo founded by Takashi Tachibana on 20 May 2020. The party is named after Takafumi Horie, an Internet entrepreneur whose nickname is "Horiemon", which is derived from time-traveling cartoon robot cat Doraemon; however, Horie has publicly disclaimed any connection to the party.

First no Kai is a Japanese political party. The party was founded in October 2021 as a sister party of Tomin First no Kai, a political party that is based in and only competes in the city of Tokyo. Tomin First no Kai is the second largest political party in the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly, but the party previously lacked any representation at the national level. Tomin First had previously created a national party called Kibō no Tō before the 2017 general election, but that party merged with the Democratic Party in 2018 to form the Democratic Party for the People.
