Children of the Light is a compilation album released in 1993 featuring the music of the Jackson 5. It is one of the three compilations of the group's music not produced by Motown or CBS Records.
Ten of these songs were previously available on the album Lookin' Through the Windows (ie that whole album with the exception of "To Know").
In 2001, the album was rereleased in a box set with Early Classics and Music & Me

The Jackson 5's lead singer, a preadolescent Michael Jackson and his four older brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, and Marlon, became pop successes within months of this album's release. Diana Ross Presents The Jackson 5's only single, "I Want You Back", became a number-one hit on the US Billboard Hot 100 within weeks of the album's release. The album reached number 5 on the US Pop Albums chart, and spent nine weeks at No. 1 on the US R&B/Black Albums charts. To date, the Jackson 5's debut album has sold estimated 5 million copies worldwide.

The album served as a new album and a compilation, as it was a mixture of old and new songs. Side A consisting of four new tracks recorded in 1978, and Side B of material recorded by Ross between 1971 and 1975, but remixed and/or extended by Motown in-house producer Russ Terrana specifically for the Ross album. Ross peaked at number 49 on the US Pop Albums chart, and number 32 on Black Albums. The album failed to chart in the UK. Its final US sales figures stood at around 150,000 copies. The cover illustration was by Rickey Ricardo Gaskins. A different album also titled Ross was released on the RCA label in 1983.

It spent three weeks at the top of the charts in the United Kingdom after its release on July 1, 1983 by Motown and Telstar Records. Featuring 18 songs released between 1969 and 1975, it became Michael's second number one on the UK Albums Chart, right behind Thriller (1982), as well as the Jackson 5's first and only chart-topper there. The album shares cover artwork with the single for "Happy", which was released in Europe to promote it.
