China International Press Photo Contest

The China International Press Photo Contest (CHIPP) is an annual photography award organized by China Photojournalists Society launched in 2005 in Shenzhen, it is open to photojournalists and photographers from around the world. [1]

Photography is the art, application and practice of creating durable images by recording light or other electromagnetic radiation, either electronically by means of an image sensor, or chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such as photographic film. It is employed in many fields of science, manufacturing, and business, as well as its more direct uses for art, film and video production, recreational purposes, hobby, and mass communication.

Shenzhen Prefecture-level and Sub-provincial city in Guangdong, Peoples Republic of China

Shenzhen is a major city in Guangdong Province, China; it forms part of the Pearl River Delta megalopolis, bordering Hong Kong to the south, Huizhou to the northeast, and Dongguan to the northwest. It holds sub-provincial administrative status, with powers slightly less than those of a province.

Awards are divided between eight categories. One gold, one silver, one bronze prizes and 2 awards of excellence are selected in each of the categories and for both single images as well as photo stories. One photo is selected as the Photo of the Year from all of the gold prize winning photos. [2]

Pictures of the Year International (POYi) is a professional development program for visual journalists run on a non-profit basis by the Missouri School of Journalism's Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute. POYi began as an annual competition for photojournalism in 1944. POYi promotes the work of documentary photographers and magazine, newspaper, and freelance photojournalists.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year photography competition

Wildlife Photographer of the Year is the largest wildlife photography competition in the world. It is an annual international wildlife photography competition owned by the Natural History Museum. It was known as BG Wildlife Photographer of the Year from 1990 to 2003, and briefly as Shell Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Kodak Wildlife Photographer of the Year and Prudential Wildlife Photographer of the Year. The first competition was held in 1964, with three categories and around 600 entries. In 2008 the competition received over 32,000 entries from 3100 photographers in 82 countries. There is an exhibition of the winning and commended images each year at the Natural History Museum, which later tours around the world. It is often cited as being one of the most prestigious photography competitions in the world.

Yannis Behrakis was a Greek photojournalist and a Senior editor with Reuters.

Kevin Frayer is a Canadian photojournalist noted for his wartime work in the Middle East including the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, and Afghanistan. He started his career in 1991 at the Winnipeg Sun and later as a National Photographer for the Canadian Press. From 2003-2009 he was based in the Middle East for the Associated Press and later in New Delhi as Chief Photographer for South Asia.

Lu Guang (卢广) is a Chinese independent photojournalist. His work consists of large documentary projects on social, environmental, and economic issues, exposing the lives of "people on the margins of Chinese society: coal miners, drug addicts, HIV patients." His stories on pollution and environmental destruction cover topics traditionally under-reported due to the risk of punishment by the Chinese government.

Daniel Beltrá is a photographer and artist who makes work about human impact on the environment.

Hossein Fatemi (photographer) Iranian photographer

Hossein Fatemi is an Iranian photojournalist. He received the 2nd place World Press Photo Award in 2017, and the Picture of the Year International (POYi) in 2016 and 2014 in two categories. He is member of Panos Pictures since 2010.

Paula Bronstein is a photojournalist who entered the profession in 1982 in Providence, Rhode Island. She is now based in Bangkok where she works for Getty Images. Bronstein was a nominated finalist for the Breaking News 2011 Pulitzer Prize.

She notably opened the U.S. office of Gamma Press Images with her husband Jean-Pierre Laffont in 1968 and in 1973 co-founded the breakaway Sygma Photo News Agency, the largest photography agency in the world. Laffont currently serves as a Senior Consultant for Visa pour l'Image.

The Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest is an annual contest for young photojournalists aged between 18 and 33. The contest was founded on December 22, 2014 by the Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency under the auspices of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO. The contest is named after Andrei Stenin, Rossiya Segodnya special photojournalist who was killed in the line of duty in southeastern Ukraine.
