Chinenye Fidelis (born 28 October 1993) is a Nigerian weightlifter. She represents Nigeria both nationally and internationally. She has competed in the Nigerian National Sports Festival, African Weightlifting Championships and World Weightlifting Championships. [1]
Fidelis in 2008 represented Nigeria at the 19th MEN and 8th women African championships where she was ranked 1st in the 48kg event. In 2011, she competed in the World weightlifting Championship where she ranked 13th in the 53kg event. [2]
She competed at the 2012 African Weightlifting Championships where she set a new African record and won a gold medal in the + 53 kg event. [3] [4] [5]
At the 17th National Sports Festival in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, she broke the national record in the 53kg snatch event. Fidelis lifted a total of 85kg to beat the old record of 82.5kg set by Patience Lawal in the 2006 edition of the Games. Fidelis also set a new record for Africa in the clean and Jerk event. She lifted a weight of 120 kg beating the old record of 112kg also by Patience Lawal.
She represented Nigeria at the 2016 African Weightlifting Championships held in Yaoundé ranking first in clean and jerk and snatch events. [6] [7] [8] During the African Championships – Continental Olympic Qualification Event in Nairobi, Kenya, Fidelis broke four continental records on the first day by lifting 87kgs, and ended with a total of 202kgs being both junior and senior african records. Weightlifting, is a sport in which athletes compete in lifting a barbell loaded with weight plates from the ground to overhead, with each athlete trying to successfully lift the heaviest weights. Athletes compete in two specific ways of lifting the barbell overhead: these are the snatch and the clean and jerk. The snatch is a wide-grip lift, in which the weighted barbell is lifted overhead in one motion. The clean and jerk is a combination lift, in which the weight is first taken from the ground to the front of the shoulders, and then from the shoulders to overhead.

Ilya Aleksandrovich Ilyin is a retired Kazakhstani weightlifter who won four world championships. On 12 December, 2015 at the President's Cup in Grozny, Russia, Ilyin set two world records in the −105 kg class. He lifted 246 kg in the clean and jerk and 437 kg in the total. Ilyin was named IWF World Weightlifter of the Year four times: in 2005, 2006, 2014, and 2015.
Lü Xiaojun is a Chinese weightlifter. He is a three-time Olympic champion and five-time world champion competing in the 77 kg category until 2018 and 81 kg starting in 2018 after the International Weightlifting Federation reorganized the categories. He has been provisionally banned for EPO use since December 2022.

Sara Samir Elsayed Mohamed Ahmed is an Egyptian weightlifter who won a bronze medal in the women's 69 kg event at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She won the gold medal in the women's 76 kg event at the 2022 World Weightlifting Championships held in Bogotá, Colombia. Originally from the Ismailia Governorate, Ahmed was encouraged to take part in weightlifting by her family and was competing internationally by 2012. At the senior level, she has earned gold medals at the Mediterranean and African Games, as well as the Arab Championships. In Rio de Janeiro, she became the first Arab woman to receive an Olympic weightlifting medal and the first Egyptian woman to receive an Olympic medal on the podium in any discipline.
Martha Ann "Mattie" Rogers is an American Olympic weightlifter. She is a four-time silver medalist at the World Weightlifting Championships. She holds the United States record in the snatch, clean & jerk, and total. She competed for the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the 87 kg category.
Maude G. Charron is a Canadian weightlifter, who competes in the 63/64 kg category and represents Canada at international competitions. She is an Olympic and Commonwealth Games champion in the women's 64 kg division. Charron also owns the clean & jerk Commonwealth Games record, the snatch and total Canadian weightlifting records, all the Panamerican records in her weight class.
Katherine Vibert is an American weightlifter, Olympian, World Champion, Pan American champion and Junior World Champion competing in the 69 kg category until 2018 and 71 kg starting in 2018 after the International Weightlifting Federation reorganized the categories. She is a winner of the IWF Female Lifter of the Year for 2019.
