The Northern Region is a region of Malawi. It had a population of 2,289,780 in 2018, and covers an area of 26,931 km², making it the smallest region both by population and area. Its capital city is Mzuzu. Starting in the north and going clockwise, the Northern Region borders on Tanzania, Lake Malawi, Malawi's Central Region, and Zambia.
Chitipa District is the northernmost district in the Northern Region of Malawi. The capital is Chitipa. The district covers an area of 4,288 km.², and has a population of 234,927. Chitipa borders fellow districts Karonga and Rumphi, as well as neighboring countries Tanzania and Zambia. In 2001 the Lambya population was estimated to number 85,000, including 45,000 in Malawi and 40,000 in Tanzania. The Lambya in Malawi are ruled by Senior Chief Mwaulambya Chieftaincy. The headquarters of the chief is in Chinunkha, Chitipa district.
Chimango Chimpimpha Mughogho-Gondwe is a Malawian politician. She is the current Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development. She is the former Deputy Minister of Persons with Disability and the Elderly. She was a Member of the National Assembly for Chitipa South Constituency, but lost in the People's Party primaries for the 2014 election. She then decided to stand as an independent candidate, but lost.
The Diocese of Karonga is a see of the Roman Catholic Church suffragan of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Lilongwe. In 2010, it counted 61,000 baptized people among a population of 400,000 inhabitants. Its current bishop is Martin Anwel Mtumbuka.

Chitipa United Football Club are a Malawian football (soccer) club based in Chitipa, Northern Region and currently playing in the Super League of Malawi, the first tier of the Malawian football.
The Sukwa people are an ethnic group in Malawi. According to the 2018 census, they make up 0.5% of Malawi's population. The Sukwa people mainly live in Northern Malawi in the district of Chitipa and Karonga.
The M14 is a road in the Muchinga Province of Zambia that connects Nakonde with the Malawian Border at Katumbi via Chitipa, Thendere and Muyombe.
