Choungrah

Choungrah is a village in Astore District of Gilgit-Baltistan region in northern Pakistan. The village contains three sub-villages: Bari Dar, Majini Dar and Thokay dar and is bounded to the east by Khachik and Harcho, to the north by Astore Bazar, to the west by Eid Ghah and to the south by Nanga Purbat. There are four union councils in Choungrah village, two are in Bari Dar and one each in Majini Dar and Thokay Dar. The Choungrah valley is the route to reach Rama Lake. The people of Choungrah are called Choungroch.

Doyan is a hill station with a small natural lake at a nearby mountain's top. The road to the village famously has 24 uphill turns. Doyan is named after Dooday Family of Tangir District(citation)required as this pasture was bestowed to them by Maharaja of Kashmir. Doyan was bordering estate of Dogra state of Kashmir with Diamer. Doyan served as base camp for liberation fighters against Dogra state as Molana Abdul Manan led them to Zojila pass with help of local Numberdar Haji Abdul Rahim who provided them logistic support.

Rattu is a small village town of the Astore district in Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan. Rattu has been traditionally used as a route for traders going to Kashmir from Astore, Gilgit and others parts of present-day Gilgit Baltistan. Rattu is known for its delicacies: cumin and trout fish.

Bunji (Urdu:بنجی) is a town in Astore District of Gilgit-Baltistan region in Pakistan. It was historically important, being on the edge of the ancient Yagistan. It was economically a hub for barter trade between Yagistan and Dogras. The distance from Bunji to Gilgit is about 50 kilometres (31 mi) on the Karakoram Highway. Bunji, located at the junction of three Great Mountain Ranges, has its historical importance. The village has its prominent traces in the socio-political and economical situations of the region in History. Literacy rate of bunji is almost 100 percent except outsider coming from other places for jobs. River Indus covers the village from North to west while from eastern side it is connected with river Astore. Baltistan region joins its territory from the North-East.

Muhammad Khalid Khurshid Khan is the President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Gilgit-Baltistan who served as the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, a territory in Northern Pakistan until he was disqualified from his post on 4 July 2023 by the Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Court. He was also a member of the Gilgit Baltistan Assembly from 25 November 2020 until his disqualification.
