Chris Abernathy is an American politician who served as a member of the Idaho House of Representatives from the 29th district,which includes a portion of Bannock County,Idaho. [1]
Born and raised in Pocatello,Idaho,Abernathy graduated from Highland High School. [2] He attended Idaho State University before joining an apprentice program sponsored by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
For 24 years,Abernathy has worked as a electrician and union executive. [3] [4] A member of the Democratic Party,he assumed office in 2018 after defeating incumbent Republican Dustin Manwaring. [5] In the 2020 election,Abernathy lost to Manwaring in a rematch. [6]
Bannock County is a county in the southeastern part of Idaho. As of the 2020 census,the population was 87,018,making it the sixth-most populous county in Idaho. The county seat and largest city is Pocatello. The county was established in 1893 and named after the local Bannock tribe. It is one of the counties with territories included in the Fort Hall Indian Reservation of the federally recognized Shoshone-Bannock Tribes.
