Christopher Coghill (born 11 April 1975 [1] ) is a British actor from Prestwich, England, having had roles in Shameless , Burn It , Hotel Babylon , The Bill , New Tricks , Doctors , Holby City , Heartbeat , Secret Diary of a Call Girl , Waterloo Road and Cold Feet , and as Tony King in EastEnders .
Coghill has appeared in many television programmes such as HolbyBlue , Shameless , [2] Burn It , [2] Hotel Babylon , The Bill , New Tricks , Doctors , Holby City , [2] Heartbeat , [2] Secret Diary of a Call Girl , Waterloo Road and Cold Feet . He has also appeared in films such as Someone Else , The Banker, [2] Molly's Idle Ways, Slide and 24 Hour Party People . [2]
In 2008, Coghill was cast in EastEnders in the controversial role of Tony King, Bianca Jackson's boyfriend. [3] Over the course of three months, it emerged that the character had been having a relationship with Bianca's stepdaughter Whitney Dean for three years, starting when Whitney was just 12-years old, and was also seen 'grooming' Lauren Branning. [3] The storyline ended in December 2008 when Whitney told Bianca, who then told the police, and Tony was arrested, thus ending Coghill's three-month stint in the show. [3] Coghill reprised the role for the character's trial, which was screened in December 2009. [3] After leaving EastEnders, Coghill noted that his storyline in the show had affected his career and was finding it more difficult to find roles. [3] Coghill next appeared as ambulance driver Bobby Sheridan in the medical drama series The Royal , in 2008. [2]
In 2016, Coghill appeared in BBC One drama series Moving On . [2] He appeared in series 4 of Line of Duty on BBC One in 2017. [2]
Coghill married actress Lisa Faulkner in April 2005, having met her on the set of Burn It. Their wedding was held at Pembroke Lodge, in Richmond Park, London, and they honeymooned in Malaysia. [4] The couple have an adopted daughter. They separated in 2011.

Ricky Butcher is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera EastEnders, played by Sid Owen. Introduced as a school boy in 1988, Ricky is one of the longest-running male protagonists to feature in EastEnders. Owen originally left the role in 2000 to pursue a music career. However, he reprised the role in 2002 before being axed by producer Louise Berridge in 2004. In 2008, producer Diederick Santer introduced the character for a third time, along with his wife Bianca Jackson. Bianca Jackson is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera, EastEnders played by Patsy Palmer. The character was introduced by executive producer Leonard Lewis and appeared initially from 1993 to 1999, when Palmer opted to leave. In 2002 executive producer John Yorke brought the character back for a special spin-off show. She returned to EastEnders as a full-time character in April 2008, reintroduced by executive producer Diederick Santer. Palmer took maternity leave in late 2010 and Bianca left the series in January 2011. The character returned in December 2011 after Palmer signed a "working mums" contract, which granted her leave from the soap between April and November 2012. The actress quit EastEnders for good in 2014 and Bianca departed on 12 September 2014. Palmer reprised the role on 2 September 2019 for a guest stint and a second guest stint was scheduled for 2020, but later cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Billie Jackson is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera EastEnders, played by Devon Anderson from 1993 to 1997, and by Bluey Robinson for a brief return in 2004. The character returned in 2010, along with other members of the Jackson family. It was confirmed in November 2009 that Anderson would reprise the role, 13 years after he was last seen on the soap. He made his return on 4 February 2010. The character was killed off in October 2010, and made his last credited appearance on 14 October.
Lauren Branning is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera EastEnders. The role was originated by Madeline Duggan, who first appeared on 3 July 2006. Duggan played the role for four years until her exit on 23 June 2010. Three months later, on 27 September 2010, the role was recast to new actress, Jacqueline Jossa. In August 2014, Jossa announced that she was expecting her first child. In December 2014, Jossa filmed her final scenes prior to taking maternity leave, which aired on 24 February 2015, following the show's 30th anniversary celebrations. She returned temporarily on 14 September 2015 for her father's murder trial before departing again on 2 October 2015. Lauren made a permanent return on 27 May 2016. In September 2017, it was announced that Jossa and Lorna Fitzgerald, who plays Lauren's sister Abi, had been axed by executive consultant John Yorke. Jossa finished filming with the show on 11 January 2018, and Lauren departed on 16 February 2018. Lauren returned to the show on 12 December 2022 for the funeral of her step-grandmother Dot Cotton before departing again in the following episode. Lauren made an unannounced appearance alongside Peter Beale during the episode broadcast on 22 June 2023. On 30 September 2023, it was announced Jossa will return to the role in the New Year. Lauren’s return scenes aired on 1 January 2024.

The character is the ward of long-running character Bianca Jackson and was introduced on 1 April 2008 when Palmer returned to the series after a nine-year absence. Whitney is described by executive producer Diederick Santer as both an equal to, and younger version of Bianca, and is the oldest of Bianca's four children. Whitney was absent from the soap across four weeks in 2012 when McGarty was suspended for repeated lateness. McGarty took a short break in 2017 and Whitney departed on 29 May and returned on 31 July of that year. On 1 June 2018, McGarty filmed her 1,000th episode as Whitney. On 29 July 2023, it was announced that McGarty had resigned from her role after fifteen years, and Whitney departed from the soap on 23 May 2024.

Tony appeared between 12 September and 12 December 2008 and returned in December 2009 to stand trial.
