Air Vice Marshal Christina Reid Elliot, CB , CBE , DL is a retired senior Royal Air Force officer.

Military career

Educated at the University of Glasgow, Elliot joined the Royal Air Force in 1985. [1] She became a member of the Directing Staff at the Joint Services Command and Staff College in 2006, Group Captain Airspace Control Capability at RAF Air Command in 2007 and station commander at RAF Halton in 2010. [1] She went on to be Group Captain Programmes in Finance, Programmes and Plans at RAF Air Command in 2012. [1]

Elliot was promoted to air commodore on 30 August 2013 and appointed assistant chief of staff training, HQ No. 22 (Training) Group. [2] She was director of ground training at No. 22 Group from 2014, [3] and appointed Air Secretary in 2016. [4] She was succeeded by Air Vice-Marshal Maria Byford on 24 February 2020. [5]

Elliot was appointed Companion of the Order of the Bath (CB) in the 2020 Birthday Honours. [6]

Later life

Since April 2020, having retiring from the Royal Air Force, Elliot has worked as Controller of the RAF Benevolent Fund. [7] [8]

He was the Deputy Commander, Allied Joint Force Command at Brunssum in the Netherlands from 2011 to 2013, having previously served for over three years as Deputy Commander, Allied Air Component Command at Ramstein in Germany. Prior to that appointment he was Air Officer Commanding No. 1 Group in the United Kingdom.

No. 22 Group is one of six groups currently active in the Royal Air Force, falling under the responsibility of Deputy Commander-in-Chief (Personnel) in Air Command. Its previous title up until 2018 was No. 22 (Training) Group. It is responsible for RAF training policy and controlling the Royal Air Force College and the RAF's training stations. As such, it is the direct successor to Training Group.

The Royal Air Force Medical Services is the branch of the Royal Air Force that provides health care at home and on deployed operations to RAF service personnel. Medical officers are the doctors of the RAF and have specialist expertise in aviation medicine to support aircrew and their protective equipment. Medical officers also carry out Aeromedical evacuations, providing vital assistance on search-and-rescue missions or emergency relief flights worldwide.

The Air Secretary and Chief of Staff, Personnel is the Royal Air Force officer with responsibility for appointments, promotions, postings, and discipline of high ranking members of the British air force. From 1978 to 1983 the Air Secretary was more often referred to as "Air Officer Commanding Royal Air Force Personnel Management Centre". It is a senior RAF appointment, held by an officer holding the rank of air vice-marshal and appointed by the sovereign. The Air Secretary's counterpart in the British Army is the Military Secretary and the Royal Navy equivalent is the Naval Secretary.

Air Vice Marshal Colin Peter Brown & Bar was a Scottish officer who began his career in the Royal Naval Air Service during the First World War, before transferring to the Royal Air Force (RAF). A flying ace credited with 14 aerial victories, he remained in the RAF and served throughout the Second World War, retiring in 1954.

Air Marshal Sir William Edward Coles & Bar, AFC was a Royal Air Force officer who served as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Technical Training Command from 1966 to 1968. Coles was also a British bobsledder who competed in the late 1940s as part of an RAF team.

Air Vice Marshal Robert John Honey, is a former senior commander in the Royal Air Force. He served as Air Secretary from 1989 until his retirement in 1994.

Air Vice Marshal George Stacey Hodson, was an air officer of the British Royal Air Force who began his military career as a World War I flying ace credited with ten aerial victories. In the course of his 34 years service, he rose to become a major commander during World War II.

Air Vice Marshal Francis Frederic Inglis, was an officer in the Royal Air Force who became the head of RAF Intelligence Staff during the Second World War, reporting to Winston Churchill. In 1942 he was sent to America, where he successfully persuaded President Franklin D. Roosevelt to direct the main American war effort against Germany rather than Japan.
