Christopher Elwin Fuller is an American film director, writer, and producer.

Background

Fuller was born in St. Petersburg, Florida graduated from the Canterbury School of Florida in 2001 and attended the University of Central Florida from 2001 to 2004. [3] [4]

Fuller holds a black belt in taekwondo under Master Yong Jun Lee and trained in St. Petersburg, Florida under tang soo do master Michael Kinney and mixed martial artist Shane Dunn. [5] [6]

Career

In 2006, he released Loren Cass , which he wrote, directed, produced and starred in under the name Lewis Brogan. [7] The film is set against the backdrop of the St. Petersburg, Florida riots of 1996. [8] Fuller wrote the film at the age of 15 [9] and filmed it in 2004 at the age of 21. [10] The movie was released theatrically and on DVD in 2009 by Kino International. [11] The film played in competition at Dennis Hopper's CineVegas Film Festival, [12] the Filmmakers of the Present section of the Locarno International Film Festival [13] and the Museum of Modern Art. [14]

In 2023, ESPN announced that Fuller is directing and producing Gracie, a multi-part documentary series on the Gracie family, founders of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and the UFC, with Greg O'Connor, Guy Ritchie, Ivan Atkinson and Nanette Burstein executive producing. [15] [16]

Awards and Recognition

Fuller was nominated for an IFP Gotham Award, [17] a Locarno Golden Leopard for Filmmakers of the Present, the Emerging Filmmaker Award at the Starz Denver Film Festival [18] and won the One+One Award for use of music in a feature film at Janine Bazin's Entrevues Belfort film festival in France. [19]

Fuller was profiled as one of 100 new directors representing the future of film in Take 100: The Future of Film, 100 New Directors, a book published by Phaidon Press and curated by film festival programmers from around the world. [20]

The Entrevues Belfort Film Festival is an annual international film festival, founded in 1986 by Janine Bazin and held in Belfort, France. Through its First Films International Competition, the festival is dedicated to support emerging filmmakers. Alongside of the International Competition, the festival focuses on rediscovering filmmakers from the cinematic heritage with retrospectives, tributes and encounters. Pervert Park is a 2014 documentary film directed by Swedish-Danish filmmaking couple Frida and Lasse Barkfors. The film's focus is Palace Mobile Park in St. Petersburg, Florida, nicknamed "Pervert Park", which houses over 100 convicted sex offenders. The film premiered at Copenhagen International Documentary Festival. It won the World Cinema Documentary Special Jury Award for Impact at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. Bong Joon-ho is a South Korean film director, producer, and screenwriter who began his career in 1994 after creating the short films White Man, Memories in My Frame, and Incoherence. In 1997, Bong wrote the feature film Motel Cactus, for which he also served as an assistant director. Two years later, he wrote Phantom: The Submarine, and later made his feature-length directorial debut with Barking Dogs Never Bite (2000). In the following years, Bong wrote and directed Memories of Murder (2003), The Host (2006), Mother (2009), and Snowpiercer (2013), films which received "universal acclaim" from critics.

Janine Bazin was a French film and television producer of the French New Wave movement. Alongside André S. Labarthe, she was the co-producer of an hour-long series of programmes called Cineastes de Notre Temps, which was broadcast from 1964 to 1974. From 1980, Bazin was co-producer of the series Cinema De Notre Temps and established the Entrevues Belfort Film Festival. The Janine Bazin Award for Best Performance was named after her.

Andrew Michael Nenninger, known professionally as Kentucker Audley, is an American filmmaker and actor. He appeared on the 2007 Filmmaker Magazine list of 25 New Faces of Independent Film. He founded the independent film platform NoBudge, first as a Tumblr blog in 2011 and then a full website in 2015.
