Christian Bernardi (born 15 August 1970 in San Marino [1] ) is a Sammarinese athlete.
He is a wheelchair athlete, who has competed as an amateur in handbike marathons in Venice, Rome, Berlin and New York, and who also practices wheelchair tennis and the shot put. [1] He was selected, through a wild card invitation, to be San Marino's sole representative for the country's first ever participation at the Paralympic Games. At the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London, he competed in the shot put, in the men's F54-56 disability category (for wheelchair athletes). [2] [3] [4] He finished in 19th place. [5]

The 2012 IPC Athletics European Championships was a track and field competition for athletes with a disability open to International Paralympic Committee (IPC) affiliated countries within Europe. It was held in Stadskanaal, Netherlands and lasted from 23 to 28 June. The event was held in the Stadskanaal Stadium and was the last major European disability athletics event before the forthcoming 2012 Summer Paralympics in London. Approximately 550 athletes from 38 countries attended the games. Several countries used the Championships to finalise the remaining places for the Paralympics.

Angela Madsen was an American Paralympian sportswoman in both rowing and track and field. In a long career, Madsen moved from race rowing to ocean challenges before switching in 2011 to athletics, winning a bronze medal in the shot put at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London. Madsen and teammate Helen Taylor were the first women to row across the Indian Ocean. She died in June 2020 while attempting a solo row from Los Angeles to Honolulu.
