Christian McLeer, an American composer, is a graduate of the Juilliard Conservatory Pre-College and the Manhattan School of Music. At the age of fourteen, he received his first major commission for the American Cancer Society, [1] for which he wrote and performed Hope in concert. Since then, he has composed a number of works that have been commissioned and recorded, including his one-act opera House of Comedy, an avant-garde piece entitled Feedback Parade, the ballet The Grandfather Clocks, [2] [3] and the opera Haibo. His composition Musing is included on acclaimed flutist Sophia Anastasia's CD of the same name, and Hope is included on the CD Encores 2 by the world-renowned pianist Anna Marie Bottazzi. His work, Black Lung, was included in the 60x60 project. As a concert pianist, Christian has performed at many respected venues, including Weill-Carnegie Hall, Steinway Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, and the New Orleans Astrodome. He has also performed as a conductor with the New Music Consort. As an accomplished classical, jazz, pop, and rock musician, he is recognized as having the ability to unite these genres in his compositions. He co-founded the Remarkable Theater Brigade [4] and is the musical director at Jan Hus Presbyterian Church. [5] He is currently a high school chorus teacher.

Pauline Maria de Ahna (also known as Pauline Strauss was a German operatic soprano and the wife of composer Richard Strauss. Her singing career was closely tied to her husband's career as a conductor and composer. From 1890 until 1894 she was committed to the Staatskapelle Weimar and from 1894 until 1897 she was committed to the Bavarian State Opera, during which times her husband was the principal conductor of those theaters. She also sang with her husband conducting at the Bayreuth Festival and in the world premiere of his first opera Guntram. Other houses at which performed included the Berlin State Opera, La Monnaie, and the Liceu. Her repertoire included leading roles in the operas of Beethoven, Humperdinck, Mozart, von Weber, and Wagner. After she gave birth to their son Franz Strauss in 1897 she retired from the opera stage. She thereafter continued to periodically perform in concerts of her husband's music, particularly Lieder. Strauss credited her as his muse for many of his compositions, including the title role in Salome, the Countess Madeleine in Capriccio, and the Four Last Songs among others.

The Composer's Voice Concert Series is a concert series in New York City which presents contemporary chamber music. The series is produced by Vox Novus and was founded in 2001 by the composer Robert Voisey. Currently directed by Voisey, Composer's Voice holds concerts at The Firehouse Space on the third Thursday of every month. John de Clef Pineiro, in New Music Connoisseur, wrote, "[Vox Novus offers] the presentation of serious works by established and emerging composers. Those voices should be heard, and they can even be reheard on the Vox Novus website that generously offers complete audio recordings and even full scores of works presented by Vox Novus at its concerts."
