Christoph Lauenstein (born 20 March 1962 in Hildesheim, West Germany) is a German producer, director and writer.

Lauenstein entered the School of Fine Arts in Kassel, Germany in 1985. While enrolled at the school Lauenstein, together with his twin brother Wolfgang, created the animated short film Balance . It received an Academy Award in the animated short film category in 1990. The Lauensteins have created a number of animation works for advertising (including station idents for MTV), as well as directing and providing the screenplay for two animated feature films Luis and the Aliens [1] and Spy Cat (both 2018). 9 is a 2005 computer animated science fiction short film created by Shane Acker as a student project at the UCLA Animation Workshop. Tim Burton saw the film and later produced a feature-length adaptation also titled 9 (2009), directed by Acker and distributed by Focus Features. The film was presented at the Indianapolis International Film Festival. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, but lost to The Moon and the Son: An Imagined Conversation, although it did win a Student Academy Award for Best Animation. Le Building is a 2005 French animated short film directed by a team of final year students at Gobelins, l'École de l'image. The story depicts a series of slapstick accidents that cause destruction to a three-story apartment complex. Le Building's team of five directors is composed of Pierre Perifel and Olivier Staphylas, both of whom went on to become Annie Award-recognized animators at DreamWorks, Xavier Ramonède and Annie award-nominated Marco Nguyen, who have continued their careers with animation credits on various high-profile French productions, and Rémi Zaarour, who has since become a comic book artist, published under the pseudonym Pozla.

TVPaint Animation is a 2D paint and digital animation software package developed by TVPaint Developpement SARL based in Lorraine (France). Originally released for Amiga in 1991, version 3.0 (1994) introduced support for other platforms. In 1999, the last Amiga version 3.59 was released as free download.

Spy Cat, also known by its German name Marnie's World, is a 2018 German-Belgian 3D computer-animated adventure comedy film written and directed by brothers Christoph and Wolfgang Lauenstein. The film was loosely inspired by the German fairy tale Town Musicians of Bremen.
