The modern Olympic Games or Olympics are the leading international sporting events featuring summer and winter sports competitions in which thousands of athletes from around the world participate in a variety of competitions. The Olympic Games are considered the world's foremost sports competition with more than 200 teams, representing sovereign states and territories, participating. The Olympic Games are normally held every four years, and since 1994, have alternated between the Summer and Winter Olympics every two years during the four-year period.
Although women have participated in boxing for almost as long as the sport has existed, female fights have been effectively outlawed for most of boxing's history until recently, with athletic commissioners refusing to sanction or issue licenses to women boxers, and most nations officially banning the sport. Blessing Oghnewresem Okagbare-Otegheri is a former Nigerian track and field athlete who specialized in long jump and sprints. She is an Olympic and World Championships medallist in the long jump and a world medalist in the 200 metres. Okagbare also holds the women's 100 metres Commonwealth Games record at 10.85 seconds. She is currently serving an 11-year ban for breaching multiple World Athletics anti-doping rules. Her ban expires on 30 July 2032.

Three gymnastics disciplines were contested at the 2012 Olympic Games in London: artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and trampolining. The trampoline events were held at the North Greenwich Arena from 3 to 4 August; the artistic events were also held at the North Greenwich Arena, from 28 July to 7 August. The rhythmic gymnastics events took place at Wembley Arena from 9 to 12 August.

Dominique is a national and African record holder after she won gold alongside Blessing Okagbare, Regina George and Christy Udoh in the Women's 4 × 200 metres relay event at the 2015 IAAF World Relays in Nassau, Bahamas.

Michael Aish is a New Zealand long-distance runner. He competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, in the men's 5000 metres. He is a prolific runner with a 2:13:21 personal best time in the marathon. He was formerly married to woman's U.S. Marathon Champion Nicole Aish and is presently married to long-distance runner Christy Burns.
Blessed Udoh is a Nigerian female weightlifter, competing in the 48 kg category and representing Nigeria at international competitions.
Olisaemeka Udoh is an American football guard for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Elon and was drafted by the Vikings in the sixth round, 193rd overall in the 2019 NFL Draft.
