Charles Austin is an American former professional wrestler. He had been a college football standout at the University of North Carolina [2] and after graduating, developed an interest in professional wrestling, starting his own small promotion in his hometown. [1]

In December 1990, after having trained for six months, [3] Austin traveled to a World Wrestling Federation (WWF) show in Tampa, Florida, where he approached WWF staff and offered his services as a jobber, a wrestler whose job is to lose to a promotion's major stars and promote their image. He was subsequently assigned to work a tag-team match with Lanny Poffo against Marty Jannetty and Shawn Michaels, who at the time were known as the Rockers. While the bulk of the match progressed normally, near the end, as Austin received Jannetty's finishing move, the "Rocker Dropper", his head struck the mat, breaking his neck and immediately paralyzing him. [4] The live event was taped for television, but never aired.

Austin would subsequently sue the WWF and Jannetty. In 1994, a jury awarded him $26.7 million [3] of which Jannetty had to pay $500,000. [5] The WWF appealed the ruling and eventually settled out of court for $10 million. [4] After this event, the WWF began using only experienced, contracted wrestlers. [4]

In February 2015, Austin appeared on an NBC news broadcast in Orlando, Florida about pharmacists who were refusing to fill pain medication prescriptions regardless of their doctor's prescription. [6] In an American Journal broadcast in the 1990s, he had been able to move with the assistance of canes and was able to lift small amounts of weight with help from his son, however the 2015 broadcast showed him in a motorized wheelchair and complaining of significant pain. [6]

The Main Event is an American series of professional wrestling television specials that were produced by the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). The Main Event was a spin-off of Saturday Night's Main Event and was held only one time in a year and was equivalent to today’s monthly pay-per-view (PPV) events. Like Saturday Night’s Main Event, The Main Event aired late and held its main event match on the first hour of the show. There were five shows between 1988 and 1991. Only the first three The Main Event episodes were shown live on NBC. The final two were taped and then shown on NBC at a later date. It included mainly high-card wrestlers of the WWF including Hulk Hogan, André the Giant, "Macho Man" Randy Savage, The Ultimate Warrior and "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase.

The Rockers were an American professional wrestling tag team consisting of Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty who teamed from 1985 to 1992. The team worked for NWA Central States Wrestling, the American Wrestling Association, Continental Wrestling Federation, Continental Wrestling Association and the World Wrestling Federation. In 1992, the team had a violent kayfabe breakup that helped propel Michaels into the singles ranks with "The Heartbreak Kid" gimmick that he used until his retirement in 2010. After the breakup Michaels and Jannetty had an on again, off again feud due to Jannetty leaving the WWF on more than one occasion. In 1996, Jannetty teamed up with Leif Cassidy to form The New Rockers, but the team never achieved much success in the WWF and ended later that same year.

The Rock 'n' Roll Express is a professional wrestling tag team consisting of professional wrestlers Robert Gibson and Ricky Morton. The Orient Express was a professional wrestling tag team in the World Wrestling Federation in the early 1990s composed of Pat Tanaka and Akio Sato, who was later replaced by Kato.

David Canal is a Cuban professional wrestler better known by his ring name "The Cuban Assassin " Fidel Sierra. He is notable for being a longtime veteran of the Puerto Rico-based World Wrestling Council as well as for his appearances in World Championship Wrestling and Pacific Northwest Wrestling during the 1980s and 1990s. He wrestled under the name The Cuban Assassin towards the end of his career.

The name originated in the World Wrestling Federation in 1985 with the original Hart Foundation consisting of brothers-in-law Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart. Initially managed by Jimmy Hart, they won the WWF Tag Team Championship twice. WWE has consistently ranked the original Hart Foundation as one of the greatest tag teams in wrestling history.
